The original kitchen was designed and built by the original homeowner, needless to say neither design nor building was his profession. Further, the entire house has hydronic tubing in gypcrete for heat which means to utilities (water, ventilation or power) could be brought up through the floor or down from the ceiling except on the the exterior walls. The current homeowners love to cook and have a seasonal garden that generates a lot of lovely fruits and vegetables for both immediate consumption and preserving, hence, kitchen counter space, two sinks, the induction cooktop and the steam oven were all 'must haves' for both the husband and the wife. The beautiful wood plank porcelain tile floors ensures a slip resistant floor that is sturdy enough to stand up to their three four-legged children. Utilizing the three existing j-boxes in the ceiling, the cable and rail system combined with the under cabinet light illuminates every corner of this formerly dark kitchen. Character and charm are abundant in this main floor remodel. The home edged toward a traditional style going in and we chose to honor this feel and carry it throughout while updating the space. From a space-planning perspective, the first volley was to remove the wall between the kitchen and dining room and let the light shine in. And shine in it does! The numerous windows stayed in place and now do their job allowing light to flow from room to room. Those very windows are trimmed in natural white oak and paired with arched wood-cased openings to add warmth to the scene. Wood beams between the kitchen and the family room and new stone on the fireplace add a nuanced rustic touch while keeping with the overall feel of the home. These organic elements beautifully offset the crisp whites and blues found everywhere you look. A patterned tile offers visual interest in the backsplash and travels from the counters to the ceiling bringing the eye with it. Orb-like woven pendant lights lend texture and interest to the marble topped island and brushed gold accent task lighting hangs above the apron sink. When a traditional style is held in high regard, and implemented well, it is nothing short of priceless.

Adding Architectural details to this Builder Grade House turned it into a spectacular HOME with personality. The inspiration started when the homeowners added a great wood feature to the entry way wall. We designed wood ceiling beams, posts, mud room entry and vent hood over the range. We stained wood in the sunroom to match. Then we added new lighting and fans. The new backsplash ties everything together. The Pot Filler added the crowning touch! NO Longer Builder Boring!

Le client souhaitait réaliser une extension pour avoir une pièce lumineuse. Une extension aurait, pour un coût important et des travaux lourds, dénaturé l'harmonie existante des façades extérieures et de la composition du bâti. En outre, le client trouvait sa cuisine peu pratique et sombre. Il a été proposé de détruire une partie d'un grenier peu exploité, et de réaliser une verrière en toiture. Il en résulte un espace au volume généreux, baigné de lumière naturelle, et une cuisine optimisée. Les poutres existantes, de très belle qualité, sont mises en valeur.

AFTER Our apartment renovation in the South of France. A small 1970's apartment (49 meters square / 527 sf). We completely gutted it, updated the electrical insulated the walls, added an A/C, moved one wall to allow for the very small bathroom to be slightly bigger, Used travertine floors, new kitchen by SooCooc in Bezier. all of this during COVID where Americans could not travel to France.
