Photographer: Matt Clayton Lazenby’s Light Natural polished concrete is a creative addition to Sommer Pyne’s brainchild, House Curious. Designed to be a perfect environment for regular use and to add to the homeowners desire to “create magic for lovely people”. Lazenby’s Light Natural polished concrete floors have been installed 100mm deep over underfloor heating. Inside and out, House Curious comprises 207m² of Lazenby’s mottled, satin finished, iconic concrete floors creating elegant architectural lines throughout. Due to logistics and project programme the internal and external areas were installed at 2 different times. Four external steps were installed at a separate time due to their size at approx. 8m long and all shutters were stripped so that the faces could be rendered. This technique ensured that the steps were as close a match as possible to the connecting patio, forming a sleek architectural space.

A machined hood, custom stainless cabinetry and exposed ducting harkens to a commercial vibe. The 5'x10' marble topped island wears many hats. This project was one of my favourites to date. The client had given me complete freedom to design a featured kitchen that was big on functionality, practicality and entertainment as much as it was big in design. The mixture of dark timber grain, high-end appliances, LED lighting and minimalistic lines all came together in this stunning, show-stopping kitchen. As you make your way from the front door to the kitchen, it appears before you like a marble masterpiece. The client's had chosen this beautiful natural Italian marble, so maximum use of the marble was the centrepiece of this project. Once I received the pictures of the selected slabs, I had the idea of using the featured butterfly join as the splashback. I was able to work with the 3D team to show how this will look upon completion, and the results speak for themselves. The 3Ds had made the decisions much clearer and gave the clients confidence in the finishes and design. Every project must not only be aesthetically beautiful but should always be practical and functional for the day to day grind... this one has it all!

The archetypal Traditional In-frame kitchen – quintessentially British. Crafted from solid Oak, and shown with fine beading detailing and satin chrome butt hinges. Oak is an enduring timber - warm, natural and tactile, yet dependable and fit for all seasons. Design In this kitchen environment the Wallace door retains its robust yet subtle proportions, but the addition of painted doors mixed with the natural oak finish of the main island units adds that little extra something. Here we’ve used the Fern finish on the peninsula unit and seating area, whilst the base and wall units are finished in Travertine. Cleverly designed accessories bring this set to life and create points of interest. The peninsula unit forms a unique focal point, and the 1/3 glazed wall doors add a little extra luxury. The plate rack to the left of the cooker offers useful and functional storage space. There is no mistaking this is an exemplary timber kitchen. We’ve created an exceptional palette of 21 painted finishes, plus the option for bespoke tailor made finishes. All the options have been specifically designed to blend and combine in a multitude of variations.
