With a striking, bold design that's both sleek and warm, this modern rustic black kitchen is a beautiful example of the best of both worlds. When our client from Wendover approached us to re-design their kitchen, they wanted something sleek and sophisticated but also comfortable and warm. We knew just what to do — design and build a contemporary yet cosy kitchen. This space is about clean, sleek lines. We've chosen Hacker Systemat cabinetry — sleek and sophisticated — in the colours Black and Oak. A touch of warm wood enhances the black units in the form of oak shelves and backsplash. The wooden accents also perfectly match the exposed ceiling trusses, creating a cohesive space. This modern, inviting space opens up to the garden through glass folding doors, allowing a seamless transition between indoors and out. The area has ample lighting from the garden coming through the glass doors, while the under-cabinet lighting adds to the overall ambience. The island is built with two types of worksurface: Dekton Laurent (a striking dark surface with gold veins) for cooking and Corian Designer White for eating. Lastly, the space is furnished with black Siemens appliances, which fit perfectly into the dark colour palette of the space.

INCROYABLE MÉTAMORPHOSE ! Du sol au plafond, cette cuisine est méconnaissable. Aucun détail n’a été laissé au hasard. Le plan en L découpé en un seul morceau assure une continuité du veinage du marbre pour plus d’élégance. Le vitrage étant particulièrement bas, une découpe sur-mesure a été réalisée en usine. Mes clients souhaitaient que les enfants puissent avoir accès au four à micro-ondes. Nous l’avons installé à la bonne hauteur. Le bloc cuisson étant tourné vers le séjour, j’ai proposé une hotte au plafond plus moderne qui vient sublimer l’espace. Cette nouvelle cuisine est à la fois fonctionnelle, chic et si lumineuse. This investment property was given a facelift with a new, more open kitchen and an overall 'wood with black & white' color scheme. Both the kitchen and stair railing were brought to modern times with clean & simple finishes including: a white mosaic tile back-splash, a black porcelain tile inlay, a combination of white and streaked dark wood Ikea cabinets, and engineered black quartz countertop.

The corner between the 2 windows provides a perfect location for the kitchen computer. The prior kitchen plan included base cabinets on all 4 walls of the room with a small island in the center. To open up the kitchen, we got rid of the cabinets along one wall and extended the island depth, providing an eat-in space on the island and, perhaps more importantly, providing a better visual connection between the family room and the kitchen.

Full renovation including new tile floor, extend the counter space, add a bar sink with glass rinser, extend the island, remove dropped ceiling, increase the hood exhausting capacity, hardwood floor touch up, remove wall wood panels, move the wine cooler, add under and inside cabinet lights, new recessed lights, move sprinkler head, painting and pos-construction cleaning.

Messing ist nichts für Putzteufel. Die Inspiration hatte die Bauherrin natürlich von Instagram und die Materialeigenschaften waren bekannt und sogar erwünscht. "Das paßt zu unserem alten Haus!" (Tatsächlich sieht es auf dem Foto nicht so gut aus wie in Wirklichkeit. Der warme Schimmer durchbricht das viele Schwarz.)
