A retired teacher and grandmother, our client raised her family in this Valley view home. With amazing potential for an enhanced territorial view, this project had been on our client’s mind for quite some time. She was very particular in selecting us as her design and build team. With deep roots in her community, it was important to her that she works with a local community-based team to design a new space, while respecting its roots and craftsmanship, that her late husband had helped build.

Eichler in Marinwood - In conjunction to the porous programmatic kitchen block as a connective element, the walls along the main corridor add to the sense of bringing outside in. The fin wall adjacent to the entry has been detailed to have the siding slip past the glass, while the living, kitchen and dining room are all connected by a walnut veneer feature wall running the length of the house. Space planning in this kitchen space was essential. We focused on using smaller appliances like the 30" double oven with rang, an 18" dishwasher, and a narrow fridge to allow for more counter space.

When this fun and plant loving client hired us to design their new kitchen, they came with amazing taste and most importantly, they knew what didn't work in their current space. With the hopes of integrating the adjacent sunroom into the new kitchen and removing the wall, allowed for an abundance of natural light to flood the kitchen. By reconfiguring the function of the space, and rearranging the appliance locations, this kitchen's small footprint now makes a big impact!

Modern, open, bright kitchen in the city. Neutral colors and quality materials ensure longevity of this modern kitchen. Simple, high gloss, lacquered doors reflect the brightness from the nearby windows. Gorgeous marble slab countertops and back splash bring the wow-factor. The island with seating on the outside keep family and guests out of the work-area, but close and conversational. High-end Gaggenau appliances make this a true chef's kitchen with all the modern conveniences. The simple, European style is sleek and timeless.

This kitchen was designed for a married couple who are gourmet cooks and wine enthusiasts. All of the appliances are Viking. There is a tall pantry cabinet and corner desk area at the far end. To the left of the cooktop, the wall was opened up to a serving counter with stools on the other side and a view to the living room. Gold granite tops mahogany cabinetry. Designer: Larry Rych Photos: Mike Kaske New owners of this fabulous condo wanted an interior that was as inspiring as the view. A clean and masculine design with clearly defined angles reflects the architecture of the building. White cabinets on top brightens the room, while the rich dark floor is very grounding. The bamboo base cabinets gives needed texture and warm to the home. The ultimate in uniformity was achieved in the floor when the tile seamlessly meets the hardwood.

This kitchen might be small, but now it is mighty. Taking a dark closed in space and being able to open it up to create a broad, open concept kitchen that is now bright and modern, is one of the strongest transformations we have done so far this year. We started with removing walls, soffits and that dated popcorn ceiling. Taking the water heater outdoors gave us a bit more space as well. Once we had the room empty, we got to put it back together in a much more functional way. Adjusting the locations of the fridge and stove created a better working area for these homeowners. This kitchen now boasts a 30 inch range with matching stainless steel hood. Subway tile in a herringbone patter makes up the backsplash from stove to ceiling, and spreads across the whole kitchen space. Navy blue cabinets create a deep base for the bright white upper cabinets and countertops. The countertops are a Quartz material that is created to mimic a Carrara marble. A stunning addition to the space. Stainless steel fixtures throughout keep the look clean and minimalistic, such as the double spray Moen faucet. The apron front single bowl kink by Kohler in their White Haven style brings a touch of old world charm into the room. Adding to the functionality, a new sliding glass patio door took the place of the old outdated slider. Milgard provided the new energy efficient door, and kitchen window. Topping off the space is oversized crown moldings set atop risers on each of the upper cabinets. And last but certainly not least, is the 6x24, commercially rated porcelain tile that perfectly mimics a true old fashioned wood floor, with all the modern functionality. A perfect way to warm up the bright cool space.

The kitchen has solid timber carcasses with solid ash doors and drawer fronts. The towers maximise the storage space and allows not having large wall units. Instead 2 units sitting on the worktops hide the kettle and toaster and 2 shelves .
