Simple kitchen gets a sprinkle of glamour. We like to think of this simple kitchen remodel as an elevated white shaker kitchen. We incorporated old and new into this space. The plan was to keep the existing appliances and then due to the age of the existing appliance which were failing in the old kitchen, we upgraded with a wolf flush induction cooktop, a cove dishwasher that we paneled and subzero columns. The finishing touch was the elegant chandelier and island in quartzite. The result is a kitchen that is loved by the family and by us! . . .

White cabinetry is always classic and this beautiful remodel completed in Durham is no exception. The hardwood floors run throughout the downstairs, tying the formal dining room, breakfast room, and living room all together. The soft cream walls offset the Blue Pearl granite countertops and white cabinets, making the space both inviting and elegant. Double islands allow guests to enjoy a nice glass of wine and a seat right in the kitchen while allowing the homeowners their own prep-island at the same time. "We would LOVE a FUNCTIONAL Blue and White kitchen please!" stated the clients who longed for a kitchen that the whole family can cook in. Kristin, our Senior Designer was only too happy to oblige. Using an inset cabinetry selected by the client, Kristin worked her magic. She created an expansive Blue island complete with a prep sink so "no more waiting in line to use the sink!" In addition, the cooktop was relocated from the island to provide additional prep and entertaining space. Plus, an intimate seating area was created. Of course, a beautiful shade of blue was selected for the island. On the perimeter of the kitchen, the refrigeration was separated to provide easy, quick access to the abundance of fresh vegetables needed for each meal, and were paneled to be pleasing to the eye. A speed oven and a convection oven are perfect for the wonderful baked breads, cakes, cookies and casseroles created by this family. A wine area took the place of a desk creating a drink station while entertaining. A beautiful quartzite with rich blue veins was painstakingly selected to tie in the entire space and a textured subway tile completed the look. Rhapsody in Blue= Family Harmony!

For this ski-in, ski-out mountainside property, the intent was to create an architectural masterpiece that was simple, sophisticated, timeless and unique all at the same time. The clients wanted to express their love for Japanese-American craftsmanship, so we incorporated some hints of that motif into the designs. This kitchen design was all about function. The warmth of the walnut cabinetry and flooring and the simplicity of the contemporary cabinet style and open shelving leave room for the gorgeous blue polished quartzite slab focal point used for the oversized island and backsplash. The perimeter countertops are contrasting black textured granite. The high cedar wood ceiling and exposed curved steel beams are dramatic and reveal a roofline nodding to a traditional pagoda design. Striking bronze hanging lights span the space. Vertically grain-matched large drawers provide plenty of storage and the compact pantry’s strategic design fits a coffee maker and Mila appliances.

Multiple cream and white paint tones create a neutral background against the stunning Sea Pearl Quartzite countertops. Polished nickel hardware and plumbing fixtures add a little sparkle to the space. Artistic tile mosaic tile was used for the backsplash inset.

Reconfigure an dark and cramped original kitchen, laundry porch and bathroom to accommodate a more generous kitchen and bathroom. The laundry room was moved to another space closer to the bedrooms. The bathroom had to be accessible from both the adjacent bedroom and the hallway. The Client wanted to keep the feeling of the original house's style plus reuse her vintage stove and create a space she would love to cook in with great light and modern conveniences.

The design brief for this project was to create a kitchen befitting an English country cottage. Denim beadboard cabinetry, aged tile, and natural stone countertops provide the feel of timelessness, while the antiqued bronze fixtures and decorative vent hood deliver a sense of bespoke craftsmanship. Efficient use of space planning creates a kitchen that packs a powerful punch into a small footprint. The end result was everything the client hoped for and more, giving them the cottage kitchen of their dreams!

Stunning transformation of a 160 year old Victorian home in very bad need of a renovation. This stately beach home has been in the same family for over 70 years.
