The island is stained walnut. The cabinets are glazed paint. The gray-green hutch has copper mesh over the doors and is designed to appear as a separate free standing piece. Small appliances are behind the cabinets at countertop level next to the range. The hood is copper with an aged finish. The wall of windows keeps the room light and airy, despite the dreary Pacific Northwest winters! The fireplace wall was floor to ceiling brick with a big wood stove. The new fireplace surround is honed marble. The hutch to the left is built into the wall and holds all of their electronics. Project by Portland interior design studio Jenni Leasia Interior Design. In this north country farmhouse, we have transformed what was a dreary kitchen into a bright and colourful space. As this is a period property, ceilings are undulating but the bespoke made cabinetry sits seamlessly, continuing close to the ceiling to maximise storage space. The cabinets are classic, plain fronted and hand painted createing a soft, tactile feel to the kitchen. The Aga is backed by a colourful ceramic tiles, its bright colour complementing the island. A traditional dresser was also created to house food and crockery, hidden behind bi-fold doors. Cabinetry in the adjacent utility/boot room complements the kitchen with Oak bench seat and shoe shelves hat and coat rail.

This expansive Victorian had tremendous historic charm but hadn’t seen a kitchen renovation since the 1950s. The homeowners wanted to take advantage of their views of the backyard and raised the roof and pushed the kitchen into the back of the house, where expansive windows could allow southern light into the kitchen all day. A warm historic gray/beige was chosen for the cabinetry, which was contrasted with character oak cabinetry on the appliance wall and bar in a modern chevron detail. Our fresh take on Mediterranean design for Vicki Gunvalson of the Real Houseives of Orange County included a brand new kitchen remodel with Moroccan influences in a creamy white, worn grey and gilded gold color palette. The matte Spanish white walls are adorned with natural unglazed clay tile from Morocco, the lantern light fixtures with carved wood tassel embellishments are custom, the appliance package includes Thermador, Miele and subzero, upholstered bar stools push up to the custom carved wood island with calacatta marble, succulents were arranged in antique wood dough bowls and all cream white dishes and worn wood accessories were used to soften the ambiance.

Our first project for this thatched cottage (approx age: 250 years old) was a challenging one. Although the property is old, the owners wanted an environment full of all modern conveniences, including an electric Aga. It was a full renovation of the kitchen, including space planning to create an easy-to-use family kitchen with lots of storage, overseeing the removal of the old kitchen and the installation of the handmade shaker kitchen, sourcing all the ironmongery, lighting and appliances and having the polished marble work surface installed. We used traditional design elements, warm worn finishes, along with french industrial lighting fixtures to bring a magical element to this space. Our clients in East Horsley had a vision for their new home, which involved a lot of research and planning as they undertook significant works. To create their new home, they chose to gut the property from top to toe, including updating electrics and plumbing, as well as adding a large rear extension to create a new open plan kitchen area. To create the light, bright and open space in the new kitchen, the extension features 2 sets of bifold doors on adjacent walls, allowing our clients to completely open up almost 6metres of wall space and enjoy the free flow access onto the garden and flood the room with fresh air and light. As well as the two sets of FD85® bifold doors, additional light was created in the kitchen by the addition of a large modular Pure Glass Flat Roof Light. With its minimal, sleek frame and aluminium beams, the Pure Glass Flat Roof Light creates a breath-taking centrepiece. Our clients matched the anthracite grey frame of the bifold doors for continuity between their glazing in the extension.
