The kitchen is open to the family room and has a wall of glass facing the outside. It features a wonderful Robin Wade live-edge-eat island. The state-of-the-art appliances are from Sub-Zero and Wolf. A hidden door disguises a full walk-in pantry. Kitchens supplied the modern gloss and glass cabinets. An elevator provides easy access to the roof terrace. This stylish kitchen and bathroom renovation in Balwyn was designed and built for a young family who needed functional spaces for everyday use but they also wanted a kitchen suitable for entertaining and a bathroom that could be a real sanctuary. With a raised bar section to the end of the expansive island bench which includes a built in wine fridge this kitchen ticks all of the homeowner's boxes. The bathroom is dark and moody and gives the user a feeling of being cocooned and protected from the outside world. Featuring an elegant freestanding tub, double sinks, timber vanity top and large shower this bathroom is fully equipped for relaxation and rejuvenation.

This Bent Creek renovation and addition gave the existing 1920s home a spacious interior and modern design while still maintaining its original character. The homeowners enjoy hosting large gatherings, but the narrow footprint and small spaces created a lot of congestion inside. To alleviate this problem, the homeowners wanted to expand the cramped kitchen and living spaces, but a huge oak tree sat only 5 feet from the kitchen window. The tree holds great sentimental value to the owners, so sacrificing the tree was out of the question, and locating the kitchen expansion elsewhere was not financially feasible. As a compromise, a large portion of the house adjacent to the kitchen was demolished, and most of the kitchen function was expanded in this direction. The new kitchen island is roomy enough for 3 and sports a Dacor downdraft range hood. The gorgeous refinished wood floors are actually structural - part of the unique arhitecture of this post and beam house. The beams are reclaimed and have an amazing patina.

Our clients bought this 20-year-old mountain home after it had been on the market for six years. Their tastes were simple, mid-century contemporary, and the previous owners tended toward more bright Latin wallpaper aesthetics, Corinthian columns, etc. The home’s many levels are connected through several interesting staircases. The original, traditional wooden newel posts, balusters and handrails, were all replaced with simpler cable railings. The fireplace was wrapped in rustic, reclaimed wood. The load-bearing wall between the kitchen and living room was removed, and all new cabinets, counters, and appliances were installed.
