The knee wall between the original kitchen and living room was removed. The island was planned with seating and the sink. Another opening to the back butlers pantry are was opened to allow easy access to stock items and an extra refrigerator.

Embracing an authentic Craftsman-styled kitchen was one of the primary objectives for these New Jersey clients. They envisioned bending traditional hand-craftsmanship and modern amenities into a chef inspired kitchen. The woodwork in adjacent rooms help to facilitate a vision for this space to create a free-flowing open concept for family and friends to enjoy. This kitchen takes inspiration from nature and its color palette is dominated by neutral and earth tones. Traditionally characterized with strong deep colors, the simplistic cherry cabinetry allows for straight, clean lines throughout the space. A green subway tile backsplash and granite countertops help to tie in additional earth tones and allow for the natural wood to be prominently displayed. The rugged character of the perimeter is seamlessly tied into the center island. Featuring chef inspired appliances, the island incorporates a cherry butchers block to provide additional prep space and seating for family and friends. The free-standing stainless-steel hood helps to transform this Craftsman-style kitchen into a 21st century treasure.

This active family purchased their home and began remodeling before moving in. The out-dated kitchen had oak cabinets and 4" orange tile on the countertops that had to go! (see before photos) It was replaced with a light and bright eat in kitchen. The expansive island provides ample counter space not only for baking and eating, but homework and crafts. Cabinetry with convenient access to blind corners, thoughtful layout for function and storage created a kitchen that is truly the heart of their home. The laundry room is clean and fresh with larger cabinets and a relocated laundry sink under the window. The family room fireplace was also updated with new surround and custom bookcases. Oak hardwoods were laced into the existing floors, butcher block countertops contrast against the painted shaker cabinets, matte brass fixtures add sophistication, while the custom subway tile range hood and feature wall with floating shelves pop against the dark wall. The best feature? A dishwasher. After all these years as a couple, this is the first time the two have a dishwasher. Comment redonner une nouvelle jeunesse à sa cuisine ? Voilà le nouveau défi réalisé avec cette cuisine datant des années 80. Les propriétaires désiraient préserver le charme de leur cuisine en chêne très bien conservée. Ils avaient besoin d’être orientés dans le choix des couleurs pour un relooking harmonieux. Ils souhaitaient également intégrer un meuble de famille en guise d’îlot central. Dans le but d’alléger la cuisine, deux couleurs ont été proposées pour les meubles, un bleu canard pour le bas et un bleu azur pour le haut. Le lambris a été peint dans une teinte bleu ciel. Le plan de travail a été réalisé en stratifié bois chêne naturel comme le sol du salon. Un travail a été effectué pour conserver une circulation fluide dans la cuisine et certains rangements ont été modernisés. Concernant le carrelage, leur choix s’est porté sur un sol imitation terrazzo qui marque actuellement un grand retour dans nos intérieurs avec l’envie d’authenticité et de matières brutes. Dans la continuité de la cuisine, les murs et plafonds de la salle à manger et du salon ont été entièrement refaits. Les lambris ont été peints en bleu ciel et les poutres apparentes du salon en couleur lin.
