We expanded this 1974 home from 1,200 square feet to 1,600 square feet with a new front addition and large kitchen remodel! This home was in near-original condition, with dark wood doors & trim, carpet, small windows, a cramped entry, and a tiny kitchen and dining space. The homeowners came to our design-build team seeking to increase their kitchen and living space and update the home's style with durable new finishes. "We're hard on our home!", our clients reminded us during the design phase of the project. The highlight of this project is the entirely remodeled kitchen, which rests in the combined footprint of the original small kitchen and the dining room. The crisp blue and white cabinetry is balanced against the warmth of the wide plank hardwood flooring, custom-milled wood trim, and new wood ceiling beam. This family now has space to gather around the large island, designed to have a useful function on each side. The entertaining sides of the island host bar seating and a wine refrigerator and built-in bottle storage. The cooking and prep sides of the island include a bookshelf for cookbooks --perfectly within reach of the gas cooktop and double ovens-- and a microwave drawer across from the refrigerator; only a step away to reheat meals.

This Kitchen was designed by Nicole in our Windham showroom. This kitchen remodel features Cabico Unique cabinets with maple recessed panel door style (700/B). The U-Shape Kitchen has a Chantilly (white paint) finish while the kitchen island has Cordovan finish with a brushed black glaze. This kitchen also includes LG Viatera Quartz countertop with an Aria color and a standard square edging. The backsplash is Elevate color element EL43 4x16 and the Red Oak engineered advantage Appalachian with Latte color floor. Other features in this remodel are Moen Brantford stainless faucet, Kohler strive stainless sink, and Moen premium stainless soap dispenser. It also features Amerock Atherly Satin Nickle handles and knobs.

In the center of the kitchen is a waterfall island with classic marble countertop, oversized brass geometric pendants, and blue faux leather stools with brass frames. Removing a lowered kitchen ceiling was the first priority for this space -- a set-back, upstairs plumbing was in the way and could not be moved. The solution -- a shallow soffit set back from the cabinet crown (behind the top lighting). Second on the wish list was more counter space; then storage, storage, storage! Before the remodel there was a chamfered soffit in the breakfast room. The main entry to the room had a header lowering the height of the opening and there was an opening with a header between the kitchen and the family room. There were also upper cabinets suspended over the base cabinetry separating the two rooms. All of this was able to be removed during the remodel. These alterations allowed us to create the open feeling room the homeowners were hoping for. Alie Zandstra

Clean, contemporary white oak slab cabinets with a white Chroma Crystal White countertop. Cabinets are set off with sleek stainless steel handles. The appliances are also stainless steel. The diswasher is Bosch, the refridgerator is a Kenmore professional built-in, stainless steel. The hood is stainless and glass from Futuro, Venice model. The double oven is stainless steel from LG. The stainless wine cooler is Uline. the stainless steel built-in microwave is form GE. The irridescent glass back splash that sets off the floating bar cabinet and surrounds window is Vihara Irridescent 1 x 4 glass in Puka. Perfect for entertaining. The floors are Italian ceramic planks that look like hardwood in a driftwood color. Simply gorgeous. Lighting is recessed and kept to a minimum to maintain the crisp clean look the client was striving for.
