Birch Plywood Kitchen with recessed J handles and stainless steel recessed kick-board with a floating plywood shelf that sits above a splash back of geometric tiles. Plants, decorative and kitchen accessories sit on the shelf. The movable plywood island is on large orange castors and has a stainless steel worktop and contains a single oven and induction hob. The back of the island is a peg-board with a hand painted panel behind so that all the colours show through the holes. Pegs are used to hang toys and on. Orange and yellow curly cables provide the electrical connection to the oven and hob. The perimeter run of cabinets has a concrete worktop and houses the sink and tall integrated fridge/freezer and slimline full height larder with internal pull out drawers. A kitchen revamp was in order for a local chef and his wife who, manages a local B&B. The foodie duo were tired of their dingy, poorly designed, 1980's style kitchen and desired a bright and open work space where they can kick back and prepare delicious meals for themselves, when they aren't cooking for other people. The space was gutted and reconfigured, switching the sink and stove placement, and situating the refrigerator on the opposite wall, to create a better work triangle. Budget constraints dictated a plan that will be done in phases, and allows more cabinets to be added at a later date, where the open pantry currently lives. A rolling cabinet, with butcher block top, situated to the right of the stove, (unfinished by the cabinet company at the time of the photo shoot), can be pulled into the room to provide a portable island. Budget friendly materials were sourced, including luxury vinyl tile for the floors, that mimics the look of concrete, and laminate counter tops that evoke the look of granite. New lighting, bright subway tile and a sparkle of brass over the sink, make this new kitchen sparkle. Photos by Lisa Wood - Lark and Loom

This striking space blends modern, classic and industrial touches to create an eclectic and homely feel. The cabinets are a mixture of flat and panelled doors in grey tones, whilst the mobile island is in contrasting graphite and oak. There is a lot of flexible storage in the space with a multitude of drawers replacing wall cabinets, and all areas are clearly separated in to zones- including a dedicated space for storing all food, fresh, frozen and ambient. The home owner was not afraid to take risks, and the overall look is contemporary but timeless with a touch of fun thrown in!

An elegant kitchen design featuring classic, shaker style doors in Dulux 'Grey Cabin' and benchtops in Caesarstone 'Turbine Grey'. The black Lancanche stove is the centrepiece of the kitchen and is complimented nicely by the black Gessi lever tap and Franke sink. A functional scullery/walk-in-pantry with 2nd sink, can be hidden away behind the sliding door when not in use. We were approached by our lovely customers in the heart of Cronulla to design a Coastal inspired Kitchen, Laundry, Ensuite and Main Bathroom. Take a look at the before photos to see how this project has evolved. The transformation is dramatic to say the least. The Kitchen was the area that required the most attention in terms of use of space. The original kitchen felt small and lacked natural light, coupled with the dark cabinetry and lack of workable bench space the kitchen was in serious need of some love. We were able to breath a breathe of fresh air into this space by removing a wall that separated the kitchen and dining room and also by removing the wall adjacent to the stairwell. By making use of the space under the stairs and relocating the water heater we were able to free up some width in the room which allowed us to incorporate an island into the design. This created much needed work space but also improved the flow through the kitchen. With light now flooding in from the patio doors and the addition of timber slatted, feature stairwell divide, the kitchen now feels light, bright and airy. The vertical slats in the stairwell carry on a consistent theme from the main kitchen which showcases vertical VJ groove doors. The complimenting timber elements and honed stone benchtops coupled with the blue shades through the tiles and island joinery tie the space together with multiple layers of colour and texture. The laundry behind the kitchen continues the same theme but is given its own personality through the choice of light timber benchtop and grey/white terrazzo inspired floor tiles, that really capture the beach side feels. Upstairs in the bathrooms a very neutral palette of whites and greys was used to keep the space feeling clean and fresh. Some warmth was brought into the bathroom with the inclusion of timber vanities and some texture through the handmade subway tiles on the feature walls.
