The French-inspired kitchen extends into the living room allowing for premium entertaining and living. The flat panel cabinets are handpainted and distressed giving a customized sense of elegance. The white marble countertops and expansive island allow for plenty of workspace while the island extends allowing for comfortable, custom upholstered bar seats to be tucked underneath. The carved corbels lifting the island and vent hood display exquisite baroque detail. The glass tiled backsplash seamlessly integrates into the countertop letting the detailed ironwork to be proudly displayed.

Lisa Konz Photography This was such a fun project working with these clients who wanted to take an old school, traditional lake house and update it. We moved the kitchen from the previous location to the breakfast area to create a more open space floor plan. We also added ship lap strategically to some feature walls and columns. The color palette we went with was navy, black, tan and cream. The decorative and central feature of the kitchen tile and family room rug really drove the direction of this project. With plenty of light once we moved the kitchen and white walls, we were able to go with dramatic black cabinets. The solid brass pulls added a little drama, but the light reclaimed open shelves and cross detail on the island kept it from getting too fussy and clean white Quartz countertops keep the kitchen from feeling too dark. There previously wasn't a fireplace so added one for cozy winter lake days with a herringbone tile surround and reclaimed beam mantle. To ensure this family friendly lake house can withstand the traffic, we added sunbrella slipcovers to all the upholstery in the family room. The back screened porch overlooks the lake and dock and is ready for an abundance of extended family and friends to enjoy this beautiful updated and classic lake home.

This beautiful kitchen host 3cm Taj Mahal natural quartzite fabricated with an ogee egee on both the island and the perimeter. The backsplash tiles are 3"x12" hand-crafted crackle ceramic with matching "island pier" mosaic framed by a continental dome liner all in a Cobblestone finish. “Cobblestone” is a beautiful, light, near white color which works perfectly with the Taj Mahal quartzite countertops. The structural Douglas Fir post and ceiling beams set the tone along with the stain matched 2x6 pine tongue and groove ceiling –this also serves as the finished floor surface at the loft above. Dreaming a cozy feel at the kitchen/dining area a darker stain was used to visual provide a shorter ceiling height to a 9’ plate line. The knotty Alder floating shelves and wall cabinetry share their own natural finish with a chocolate glazing. The island cabinet was of painted maple with a chocolate glaze as well, this unit wanted to look like a piece of furniture that was brought into the ‘cabin’ rather than built-in, again with a value minded approach. The flooring is a pre-finished engineered ½” Oak flooring, and again with the darker shade we wanted to emotionally deliver the cozier feel for the space. Additionally, lighting is essential to a cook’s –and kitchen’s- performance. We needed there to be ample lighting but only wanted to draw attention to the pendants above the island and the dining chandelier. We opted to wash the back splash and the counter tops with hidden LED strips. We then elected to use track lighting over the cooking area with as small of heads as possible and in black to make them ‘go away’ or get lost in the sauce.

Needing more space for their growing family, these young homeowners approached us to help them create an updated, larger home from their existing 1953 split-level. On the first floor, walls were removed to create an open concept kitchen and living room. A new dining room addition was constructed in the back, as well as a new tandem 2-car garage.

Close up of the cooktop. Notice how this confetti, lantern tile highlights the cooktop in such a beautiful way. We just love the crisp and clean result of this transformation.

GREAT ROOM! Gorgeous Leathered Fantasy Brown Marble countertops combined the cool grays wall colors with the warm brown of the floors. This huge island seats many. The Warm Off White cabinets feel rich! Stone surrounding cook-top and fireplace. The castle like arched beam ceiling details in the Breakfast nook and over the island lightened up with off white paint.
