Our Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in the Mid-Century Modern style bathroom, butler's pantry, and mudroom. We covered the bathroom walls and flooring with stylish beige and yellow tile that was cleverly installed to look like two different patterns. The mint cabinet and pink vanity reflect the mid-century color palette. The stylish knobs and fittings add an extra splash of fun to the bathroom. The butler's pantry is located right behind the kitchen and serves multiple functions like storage, a study area, and a bar. We went with a moody blue color for the cabinets and included a raw wood open shelf to give depth and warmth to the space. We went with some gorgeous artistic tiles that create a bold, intriguing look in the space. In the mudroom, we used siding materials to create a shiplap effect to create warmth and texture – a homage to the classic Mid-Century Modern design. We used the same blue from the butler's pantry to create a cohesive effect. This kitchen island is the balance for a contemporary look. I've taken an antique work bench, refurbished it and poured a concrete counter for the top. The concrete although very smooth looks as though I took a chunk from a sidewalk,, polished it, and reused it. I strive to make all my concrete appear natural. Photography by Amy J. Greving

Karli Moore Photography - Kitchen expanded into an adjoining hall way, so refrigerator wall movement of approximately 4' allowed the inclusion of a center island with special features of seating and cook book storage. The cabinet just beyond the double oven serves as a hidden dropping zone, as well as, broom storage. Floor to ceiling cherry cabinets compliment the red oak character grade flooring by allowing the darker floor grain coloration to match the cabinet stain itself. Cabinetry accessories abound to create function to this expanded beauty.

A narrow galley kitchen with glass extension at the rear. The glass extension is created from slim aluminium sliding doors with a structural glass roof above. The glass extension provides lots of natural light into the terrace home which has no side windows. A further frameless glass rooflight further into the kitchen extension adds more light.

The original historical home had very low ceilings and limited views and access to the deck and pool. By relocating the laundry to a new mud room (see other images in this project) we were able to open the views and space to the back yard. By lowering the floor into the basement creating a small step down from the front dining room, we were able to gain more head height. Additionally, adding a coffered ceiling, we disguised the structure while offering slightly more height in between the structure members. While this job was an exercise in structural gymnastics, the results are a clean, open and functional space for today living while honoring the historic nature and proportions of the home. This Kitchen was closed off and had three different ceiling heights. After the remodel and opening up the floor plan with new Wood Look tile floors, gray cabinet island, white cabinets, and shutters - this Kitchen is much more updated!

A beautiful Sage Green shaker style updated this kitchen! Adding Shaker style crown to match the style of the doors with the finishing touch of satin nickel decorative pulls to match the stainless steel appliances. The white ceramic tile backsplash was installed to mimic large herringbone pattern and match the quartz countertops installed with undermount lighting to show the detail in the patterns.
