La cuisine ouverte sur le séjour est aménagée avec un ilôt central qui intègre des rangements d’un côté et de l’autre une banquette sur mesure, élément central et design de la pièce à vivre. pièce à vivre. Who said that a Burbank bungalow home needs to be doll and old fashioned. In this Burbank remodeling project we took this 1200sq. bungalow home and turned it to a wonderful mixture of European modern kitchen space and calm transitional modern farmhouse furniture and flooring. The kitchen was a true challenge since space was a rare commodity, but with the right layout storage and work space became abundant. A floating 5' long sitting area was constructed and even the back face of the cabinets was used for wine racks. Exterior was updated as well with new black windows, new stucco over layer and new light fixtures all around. both bedrooms were fitted with huge 10' sliding doors overlooking the green backyard.

Understated clean lines come together with rustic accents inspired by historic rural homes. Using simple Middleton flat panel doors throughout allows the three finishes to take center stage. Shiplap is a key element of Farmhouse styling—add texture and detail to your design with a shiplap panel, now available in strips as well as prearranged panels for hoods, bookcases, end panels and more. This bright open-planed kitchen uses a smart mix of materials to achieve a contemporary classic look. Neolith Estatuario porcelain tiles has been used for the worktop and kitchen island, providing durability and a cost effective alternative to real marble. A built in sink and a single adjustable barazza tap maintains a minimal look. Matt Lacquered cabinetry provides a subtle contrast whilst wooden effect laminate carcass and shelving breaks up the look. The custom kitchen is truly the heart of this renovation and the ideal spot for entertaining. The floor-to-ceiling shaker-style custom cabinets with modern bronze hardware, are finished in Sherwin Williams Pewter Green, a trendy but timeless color choice that perfectly complement the oversized kitchen island and countertops topped with sleek black leathered granite. The large, new island is the centerpiece of this designer kitchen and serves as a multifunctional hub. Anchoring the space is an eye-catching focal wall showcasing a stylish white plaster vent hood positioned above a Wolf Induction Cooktop with a stunning Calcutta Classic marble backsplash with ledge.

This kitchen boasts white oak upper cabinets and light green lower cabinets with Euro style flat front full overlay doors and drawers. The hexagon tile backsplash extends to the ceiling around the vent hood and window.

Jeff and Susan were drawn to the location of the building, a vibrant Chicago neighborhood, 4 blocks from Wrigley Field, as well as to the vintage charm of the 1890’s building. The entire 2 bed, 2 bath unit was renovated and furnished, including the kitchen, with a specific Parisian vibe in mind. Although the location and vintage charm were all there, the building was not in ideal shape -- the mechanicals -- from HVAC, to electrical, plumbing, to needed structural updates, peeling plaster, out of level floors, the list was long. Susan and Jeff drew on their expertise to update the issues behind the walls while also preserving much of the original charm that attracted them to the building in the first place -- heart pine floors, vintage mouldings, pocket doors and transoms. Because this unit was going to be primarily used as an Airbnb, the Klimalas wanted to make it beautiful, maintain the character of the building, while also specifying materials that would last and wouldn’t break the budget. Susan enjoyed the hunt of specifying these items and still coming up with a cohesive creative space that feels a bit French in flavor. Parisian style décor is all about casual elegance and an eclectic mix of old and new. Susan had fun sourcing some more personal pieces of artwork for the space, creating a dramatic black, white and moody green color scheme for the kitchen and highlighting the living room with pieces to showcase the vintage fireplace and pocket doors. This kitchen was opened up to the dining area in this residential remodel project. The ceiling was vaulted and skylights added for extra natural light. The result is a beautiful, naturally lit kitchen that boasts a dynamic mix of colors and textures.
