I love seeing a house go up from the blueprints to the end of the build. It is always a journey filled with a thousand decisions, some creative on-the-spot thinking and yes, usually a few stressful moments. This Naperville project was a collaboration with a local builder and architect. The Kitchen Studio collaborated by completing the cabinetry design and final layout for the entire home. The kitchen is spacious and opens into the neighboring family room. A 48” Thermador range is centered between two windows, and the sink has a view through a window into the mudroom which is a unique feature. A large island with seating and waterfall countertops creates a beautiful focal point for the room. A bank of refrigeration, including a full-size wine refrigerator completes the picture. The area between the kitchen and dining room houses a second sink and a large walk in pantry. The kitchen features many unique storage elements important to the new homeowners including in-drawer charging stations, a cutlery divider, knife block, microwave drawer, pull out trash, multiple appliance garages, spice pull outs and tray dividers. There’s not much you can’t store in this room! Cabinetry is white shaker inset styling with a gray stain on the island. The back of the island features lap style siding that coordinates with the fireplace in the neighboring family room. Mid-century inspired lighting gives the room a modern vibe. Mutual Materials stonework in Loon Lake surrounds the 36" gas Thermador range and Thermador hood insert in the kitchen. Wood cabinets are knotty alder with shaker doors with a slight eased edge, stained in "Old Manor Pine" and completed with Amerock hardware in stain nickel from their Inspirations Collection. Pull out spice cabinets on either side of the range make for easy access while cooking. Countertops and 4" backsplash are "White Splendor" granite. Backsplash behind the range is 12x24" Bedrosians tiles in Chateau Tobacco, installed in a herringbone design. Walls and ceilings are painted in Sherwin Williams "Kilim Beige", while exposed wood beams are finished with "Old Dragon's Breath" wood stain.

The integrated cabinetry houses the Siemens French door Fridge with Freezer drawer below. Narrow pull out to the side gives access to lots of pantry items. On the right the fridge is balanced by the larder. Calacatta Viola Marble worktops and full height backsplash. The extractor was a bespoke design and colour made to our specifications by Westin.

A mixer lift up is an awesome feature to have if you blend daily or bake often.

Nancy Knickerbocker of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Southern Pines, NC collaborated with Chis Sowell to design a transitional style kitchen design featuring Green Forest cabinetry. The kitchen cabinets are in the Park Place door style in a Sea Dance Green finish, complimented with Cambria Brittanicca Gold countertops. The kitchen also includes a Kohler faucet and MDC D Shape sink. "I had a fantastic experience with the design and installation team at Reico. They were professional, talented, and easy to work with. Nancy, my designer, took my color preferences and created a beautiful design, addressing all my concerns about layout and budget effortlessly,” said the client. “Once the installation started, I was equally impressed with that team and process. My favorite part of the cabinets is the decision to use deep drawers on the island. I also love the gold handles and the way they accent the gold in the gorgeous countertops. The colors make all the difference to me. I have and will continue to recommend Reico to anyone who ever needs quality kitchen and bathroom design, products and installation.” “This was so much fun! EKB Home designed and built this beautiful kitchen for our client building their new Stonemill home. The combination of black with white cabinets was repeated with the quartz tops, while adding just a touch of stained wood for warmth. Shaker doors were paired with black slab doors to bring a touch of contemporary into the transitional design.
