This 3,500-square-foot home was custom designed for the clients. They wanted a modern yet comfortable and livable style throughout the inside of the house, with large windows allowing one to soak up the beautiful nature that surrounds the home. It features an open concept and plenty of seating for easy entertaining, beautiful artwork that is meaningful to the homeowners, and bright splashes of color that keep the spaces interesting and fun. --- Project by Wiles Design Group. The original kitchen in this 1960s ranch home was considerably smaller and separated from the rest of the home by a wall with a small opening. The wall also blocked the view to the original fireplace and built-in bookcase/desk (on the right - the left side was added as part of the remodel). By removing the wall, we were able to expand the kitchen while showcasing the fireplace. The new style of the kitchen has both modern and Craftsman elements - marrying the 60s ranch architecture of the home and the Arts and Crafts furniture and decorations of the homeowners. Suzanne Lasky, S Interior Design Transformation of all common areas of a large Scottsdale home including turning the unused dining room into a pool table playing space completed with red cork wall covering, custom artwork and an upholstered bench for players to sit on. Kitchen received new tile on bar back, art, accessories, new barstools, reupholstered and redesigned chairs, and an area carpet. The powder room has the red cork wall covering and amazing art and accessories as well as new plumbing and hardware fixtures.

This transitional style kitchen has a 3-level island which provides seating, additional storage and breaks up the large scale of the island. With the open plan, the 2 large appliance garages help supplement wall cabinet storage and help block the view of the sink in this multi-level island. Cherry cabinets, honed granite, slate backsplash and Kenya Reed Lumicore door inserts add texture and pattern. The large circular pulls are custom but the remainder are stock pulls.

This classic 1970's rambler was purchased by our clients as their 'forever' retirement home and as a gathering place for their large, extended family. Situated on a large, verdant lot, the house was burdened with extremely dated finishes and poorly conceived spaces. These flaws were more than offset by the overwhelming advantages of a single level plan and spectacular sunset views. Weighing their options, our clients executed their purchase fully intending to hire us to immediately remodel this structure for them. Our first task was to open up this plan and give the house a fresh, contemporary look that emphasizes views toward Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains in the distance. Our initial response was to recreate our favorite Great Room plan. This started with the elimination of a large, masonry fireplace awkwardly located in the middle of the plan and to then tear out all the walls. We then flipped the Kitchen and Dining Room and inserted a walk-in pantry between the Garage and new Kitchen location. While our clients' initial intention was to execute a simple Kitchen remodel, the project scope grew during the design phase. We convinced them that the original ill-conceived entry needed a make-over as well as both bathrooms on the main level. Now, instead of an entry sequence that looks like an afterthought, there is a formal court on axis with an entry art wall that arrests views before moving into the heart of the plan. The master suite was updated by sliding the wall between the bedroom and Great Room into the family area and then placing closets along this wall - in essence, using these closets as an acoustical buffer between the Master Suite and the Great Room. Moving these closets then freed up space for a 5-piece master bath, a more efficient hall bath and a stacking washer/dryer in a closet at the top of the stairs.
