Owner, architect, and site merged a design from their mutual association with the river. Located on the edge of Goose Creek, the owner was drawn to the site, reminiscent of a river from his youth that he used to tube down with friends and a 6-pack of beer. The architect, although growing up a country way, had similar memories along the water. Design gains momentum from conversations of built forms they recall floating along: mills and industrial compounds lining waterways that once acted as their lifeline. The common memories of floating past stone abutments and looking up at timber trussed bridges from below inform the interior. The concept extends into the hardscape in piers, and terraces that recall those partial elements remaining in and around the river.

This 3,500-square-foot home was custom designed for the clients. They wanted a modern yet comfortable and livable style throughout the inside of the house, with large windows allowing one to soak up the beautiful nature that surrounds the home. It features an open concept and plenty of seating for easy entertaining, beautiful artwork that is meaningful to the homeowners, and bright splashes of color that keep the spaces interesting and fun. --- Project by Wiles Design Group. This classic 1970's rambler was purchased by our clients as their 'forever' retirement home and as a gathering place for their large, extended family. Situated on a large, verdant lot, the house was burdened with extremely dated finishes and poorly conceived spaces. These flaws were more than offset by the overwhelming advantages of a single level plan and spectacular sunset views. Weighing their options, our clients executed their purchase fully intending to hire us to immediately remodel this structure for them. Our first task was to open up this plan and give the house a fresh, contemporary look that emphasizes views toward Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains in the distance. Our initial response was to recreate our favorite Great Room plan. This started with the elimination of a large, masonry fireplace awkwardly located in the middle of the plan and to then tear out all the walls. We then flipped the Kitchen and Dining Room and inserted a walk-in pantry between the Garage and new Kitchen location. While our clients' initial intention was to execute a simple Kitchen remodel, the project scope grew during the design phase. We convinced them that the original ill-conceived entry needed a make-over as well as both bathrooms on the main level. Now, instead of an entry sequence that looks like an afterthought, there is a formal court on axis with an entry art wall that arrests views before moving into the heart of the plan. The master suite was updated by sliding the wall between the bedroom and Great Room into the family area and then placing closets along this wall - in essence, using these closets as an acoustical buffer between the Master Suite and the Great Room. Moving these closets then freed up space for a 5-piece master bath, a more efficient hall bath and a stacking washer/dryer in a closet at the top of the stairs.

A complete face lift was needed to bring this large great room back to life. We opened the hallway from the garage entrance for easier access, as well as the opening to the dining room. The laundry was relocated upstairs to make room for large cabinets to house crafting supplies. A beverage center was created to hold everything for a great cup of coffee. A beverage fridge and sink were added to create a wet bar. The refrigerator was relocated for better function. New appliances were added in stainless steel including a beautiful stainless and glass range hood. The focal point, a blue island in the color "rain" with a Dekton counter top is the center piece of the large room. A message center at the end of the wall helps with daily organization.

We turned this 1950's closed in/small kitchen into a luxury open concept kitchen! With the square footage given we were able to give the clients an extra bedroom/office and a powder room without any additions. Mid Century inspired while mixing custom walnut cabinets with quartz and concrete countertops. Once dark now a cooks kitchen and bright but yet elegant. The exquisite transformation of the kitchen in Silo Point Luxury Condominiums is a masterpiece of refinement—a testament to elegant design and optimized spatial planning. Central to the renovation's success was the decisive removal of the walls that previously enclosed the refrigerator. A testament to the renovation's meticulous attention to detail, the selection of the quartzite countertops resulted from an extensive and discerning search. This redefined kitchen now boasts a seamless balance of form and function. The new design elegantly delineates the area into four distinct yet harmonious zones. The high-performance kitchen area is a chef's dream, with top-of-the-line appliances and ample workspace. Adjacent to it lies the inviting lounge, furnished with plush seating that encourages relaxation and conversation. The elegant dining space beckons with its sophisticated ambiance, while the charming coffee nook provides a serene escape for savoring a morning espresso or a peaceful afternoon read. Turner Design Firm's team member, Tessea McCrary, collaborated closely with the clients, ensuring the furniture selections echoed the homeowners' tastes and preferences, resulting in a living space that feels both luxurious and inviting.
