Being that the homeowners enjoy entertaining and have such a large space to do so, a wet bar with plenty of storage was added. A copper wine glass rack was custom made for the bar and display’s wine glasses in a decorative way. Designer Brittany Hutt specified Homecrest Cabinetry’s Rainer door style in the color Maple Ginger with a Wheat Finish. The kitchen and wet bar include stacked upper cabinets with lift up glass door fronts and inside LED lighting to highlight the décor displayed inside. For the countertops Pompeii Quartz in the color Black Magic was chosen. The cabinets were complete with sleek Off Center Pulls in a Matte Chrome Finish from Atlas Hardware. To integrate a contemporary coastal design element, the Caicos Blue Beach Glass Mosaic in the color Teal from Marazzi was selected for both the kitchen and wet bar backsplash.

After visiting several parade & festival of homes they decided to stay and renovate! Our client wanted that new home feel & style. The first phase was the kitchen, living & dinning room reno. Cooking, venting & happy with the function of their existing appliances we designed around & adjusted to make their experience better. Cooking, dining, brunch, breakfast, lunch, dinner & nightcaps have new meanings. Clearly love is in this home. More memories to come...

A Gilmans Kitchens and Baths - Design Build Project (REMMIES Award Winning Kitchen) The original kitchen lacked counter space and seating for the homeowners and their family and friends. It was important for the homeowners to utilize every inch of usable space for storage, function and entertaining, so many organizational inserts were used in the kitchen design. Bamboo cabinets, cork flooring and neolith countertops were used in the design. Storage Solutions include a spice pull-out, towel pull-out, pantry pull outs and lemans corner cabinets. Bifold lift up cabinets were also used for convenience. Storage under and behind the bench was used to store pet items. The kitchen and living room of the 20 year old home built by the owners needed modernizing. The existing kitchen was closed off and dated. To improve functionality and aesthetics we changed the layout. Adding a wide opening into what was the formal dining area and closing off the view from the formal lounge into the kitchen, by building a dividing wall. This new wall has become the back support for pantry, integrated fridge and oven tower. The client was keen to have curved cabinetry to minimize sharp corners and soften the overall look. Curves were added to the pantry cupboard, island bench and the appliance cupboard. To improve the view to the outdoor garden pool area and lighting in the space, the existing glass brick windows and part of the wall were removed to facilitate a large fixed panel window that also works as the splash back for the cooktop. Servo-drive drawers and above cupboard doors were installed to add to the functionality and ease of use. A Zip Hydrotap, pull out spice, oils and chopping board drawers along with a wicker basket for storage of vegetables added the finishing touches. Natural Granite was used for the benchtop and cabinetry was a 2 pak Resene painted finish. The adjacent lounge/living area had ceiling mounted sheer curtains installed along with new carpet and feature wallpaper on the new wall.

Riven engineered oak doors provide a striking effect on this contemporary kitchen. Silestone worktops around the perimeter of the kitchen contrast nicely with the grey worktop on the island unit. This kitchen features clever storage solutions including secondary drawers within drawers to keep the look uncluttered yet functional, lifting locker door with Blum Aventos HF hinges to give unrestricted access to the cabinet interior and internal larder racking that provides a stylish and practical storage solution. The kitchen also houses integrated appliances such as fridge freezer and dishwasher. A black AGA range provides heat and a Faber Northia hood takes care of the cooking extraction. This angle of the kitchen highlights the seating around the island, the improved use of space post-renovation, and the funky backsplash that brings in elements from the flooring to the appliances to the granite. A few seaborne accessories combined with neutral others are highlighted with mini-LED spots in the niches above the custom cabinets. The kitchen now overlooks both the main family room and the breakfast nook so conversation can flow easily from one space to the next.
