Tournant le dos à la terrasse malgré la porte-fenêtre qui y menait, l’agencement de la cuisine de ce bel appartement marseillais ne convenait plus aux propriétaires. La porte-fenêtre a été déplacée de façon à se retrouver au centre de la façade. Une fenêtre simple l’a remplacée, ce qui a permis d’installer l’évier devant et de profiter ainsi de la vue sur la terrasse.. Dissimulés derrière un habillage en plaqué chêne, le frigo et les rangements ont été rassemblés sur le mur opposé. C’est le contraste entre le papier peint à motifs et la brillance des zelliges qui apporte couleurs et fantaisie à cette cuisine devenue bien plus fonctionnelle pour une grande famille !. Holistic Home Renovation -Series 5: "The Kitchen" (See 2-24 Post for full description) Hard to believe when looking at this inviting yet spacious kitchen, that it's predecessor was small, dark and awkward. We ripped out walls, bumped-out 4', added windows and totally reconfigured the layout. Two sinks, 2 dishwashers, chef-ready Wolf range, one-of-a-kind Vent-a-hood custom hood with brass accents, Subzero fridge, elegant furniture-grade cabinetry, Statuary Classique Quartz countertops, Grothouse wood bar and island tops, Dynasty Omega custom cabinetry with soothing Blue Lagoon accent paint are just some of the great features.

When they briefed us on this two-storey 85 m2 extension to their beautifully-proportioned Regency villa, our clients envisioned a clean, modern take on its traditional, heritage framework with an open, light-filled lounge/dining/kitchen plan topped by a new master bedroom. Simply opening the front door of the Edwardian-style façade unveils a dramatic surprise: a traditional hallway freshened up by a little lick of paint leading to a sumptuous lounge and dining area enveloped in crisp white walls and floor-to-ceiling glazing that spans the rear and side façades and looks out to the sumptuous garden, its century-old weeping willow and oh-so-pretty Virginia Creepers. The result is an eclectic mix of old and new. All in all a vibrant home full of the owners personalities. Come on in!

There are several custom spaces in this kitchen including the eat-in space with banquette, large custom bookshelf, and custom storage area with large cubbies for dishes and smaller ones for wine bottles.

Une cuisine compacte qui a tout d'une grande. Finition blanc mat, chêne et crédence verte effet zellige pour se marier avec les tomettes d'origine. Les touches de laiton apportent la touche d'élégance.

Deux grands plans de travail se font face, pour un maximum d'espace de rangement et de préparation. Le plan de travail est en céramique. Sous les étagères ouvertes se trouve un bandeau lumineux pour un éclairage discret.

This holistic project involved the design of a completely new space layout, as well as searching for perfect materials, furniture, decorations and tableware to match the already existing elements of the house. The key challenge concerning this project was to improve the layout, which was not functional and proportional. Balance on the interior between contemporary and retro was the key to achieve the effect of a coherent and welcoming space. Passionate about vintage, the client possessed a vast selection of old trinkets and furniture. The main focus of the project was how to include the sideboard,(from the 1850’s) which belonged to the client’s grandmother, and how to place harmoniously within the aerial space. To create this harmony, the tones represented on the sideboard’s vitrine were used as the colour mood for the house. The sideboard was placed in the central part of the space in order to be visible from the hall, kitchen, dining room and living room. The kitchen fittings are aligned with the worktop and top part of the chest of drawers. Green-grey glazing colour is a common element of all of the living spaces. In the the living room, the stage feeling is given by it’s main actor, the grand piano and the cabinets of curiosities, which were rearranged around it to create that effect. A neutral background consisting of the combination of soft walls and minimalist furniture in order to exhibit retro elements of the interior. Long live the vintage!

The open galley kitchen area is defined by the angled glass wall sheeting, echoing the slope of the ceiling. A Caesarstone island bench provides breakfast seating with a large overhang. Views are also provided above the bench through to the winter living room, providing connection to both areas. Side windows are small, providing added light but protecting privacy.

Expansion of kitchen to include entertainment bar behind closed doors (laundry appliances removed to garage). Finished project included thick wood shelf, extension of quartz countertop, built-in wine cooler, additional cabinetry, pendent drop lighting, wallpaper with more room to entertain.
