This kitchen designed for the Junior League of Buffalo 2017 Decorator Showhouse was a full gut of the space. There were plumbing and HVAC pipes in the space that required custom modifications to cabinetry. Part of the hearth has a false back on the cabinet to accommodate some of the pipes. Additionally, the 10’ ceilings required a custom combination of cabinets and crown molding to reach the ceiling. The space contained 4 doorways so the use of angled cabinetry allowed for easier access in and out of the space. The room includes special design features such as the wood hearth to house the ventilation for over the range, custom under cabinet lighting and a wet bar housing a beverage center and an appliance for growing microgreens.

This “before” Manhattan kitchen was featured in Traditional Home in 1992 having traditional cherry cabinets and polished-brass hardware. Twenty-three years later it was featured again, having been redesigned by Bilotta designer RitaLuisa Garces, this time as a less ornate space, a more streamlined, cleaner look that is popular today. Rita reconfigured the kitchen using the same space but with a more practical flow and added light. The new “after” kitchen features recessed panel Rutt Handcrafted Cabinetry in a blue finish with materials that have reflective qualities. These materials consist of glass mosaic tile backsplash from Artistic Tile, a Bridge faucet in polished nickel from Barber Wilsons & Co, Franke stainless-steel sink, porcelain floor tiles with a bronze glaze and polished blue granite countertops. When the kitchen was reconfigured they moved the eating niche and added a tinted mirror backsplash to reflect the light as well. We used the Euro Cabinet Line, which is a frameless construction, & dovetail drawer construction, with a melamine interior. The customer wanted clean lines in their kitchen, so we did a solid panel MDF door with matching drawer fronts. For colors we did a custom color by Benjamin Moore called Hale Navy and White Lacquer on the upper cabinets. The customer used Calico White Quartz for the counter tops.

The client initially contacted us because the Master Bathroom needed to be repaired, and from there the project transformed into a whole house remodel, fulfilling a dream the homeowners had since moving into the house 17 years ago. The entire house was filled with wallpaper, and the cabinets were built at a larger 42" height for taller homeowners (you'll want to check out the Before & Afters at the end of the slideshow). When approaching the remodel, the client asked our Designer to create a couple of material options to present to her for each area of the house; Kitchen, Master Bathroom, and Utility Room. Through design meetings, the Designer and the Homeowner collaborated to create these beautiful selections that have completely transformed the look of the house.

Thoughtful design and detailed craft combine to create this timelessly elegant custom home. The contemporary vocabulary and classic gabled roof harmonize with the surrounding neighborhood and natural landscape. Built from the ground up, a two story structure in the front contains the private quarters, while the one story extension in the rear houses the Great Room - kitchen, dining and living - with vaulted ceilings and ample natural light. Large sliding doors open from the Great Room onto a south-facing patio and lawn creating an inviting indoor/outdoor space for family and friends to gather. Clients Jason and Adam, after a successful living room and home bar redesign, wanted to give their kitchen a light and bright modern makeover. The stunning white quartzite counter tops with waterfall edge, and an eye-catching gray glass tile backsplash work perfectly together. We selected a combination of stark white and bluish-gray custom cabinets to compliment the existing bold design elements in their living room and bar area. Tech savvy elements, such as the chrome push/pop electrical outlets in the island, and hands-free trash drawer, allow for unrestricted culinary creativity. The now seamless transition from living room to kitchen creates a nice open airy feeling in this large multi-functional space.

The shades are cellular. The skylight in this picture have aluminum side channels, a sill channel and a flat bottom bar. This is basically a frame around the shade that prevents light leakage around the edges or in the case of the skylight, provides a smooth operation. This is a great option when you want to have the optimal light blockage, windows at an angle (skylights) and A/V applications. In addition, this gives a clean, polished look to your windows. The channels can be used for roller shades, honeycomb shades and skylight applications. The channels can also be used with a variety of operational systems; such as, cord, motorized and cordless. The style and specifications of the channels differs by manufacturer so it’s important to make sure that you use the right system/manufacture for your needs.
