This kitchen remodel was designed by Gail from our Manchester showroom. This kitchen features Cabico Essence cabinets with maple wood, Cartago/K (raised panel) door style and Natural stain finish and Cacao glaze. This remodel also features Cambria quartz countertop, with Blackwood color and standard edge. The kitchen flooring is Armstrong 6”x48” vinyl plank click lock with Vivero collection and Apple Orchard color. The backsplash is Florida Tile Retro classic tile sheets with Mocha color and chocolate color grout by Mapei. Other features include Blanco double bowl sink with Anthracite color with two sink grids and basket strainers, the faucet and soap dispenser is by Moen in Flat Black finish. The cabinet hardware is knobs are by Amerock Hardware with Carmel Bronze finish. As part of the kitchen remodel, the customer added custom new French doors (60” x 80”) with weather-stripped Jam, colonial casing and brushed nickel casing hinges.

Our design process is set up to tease out what is unique about a project and a client so that we can create something peculiar to them. When we first went to see this client, we noticed that they used their fridge as a kind of notice board to put up pictures by the kids, reminders, lists, cards etc… with magnets onto the metal face of the old fridge. In their new kitchen they wanted integrated appliances and for things to be neat, but we felt these drawings and cards needed a place to be celebrated and we proposed a cork panel integrated into the cabinet fronts… the idea developed into a full band of cork, stained black to match the black front of the oven, to bind design together. It also acts as a bit of a sound absorber (important when you have 3yr old twins!) and sits over the splash back so that there is a lot of space to curate an evolving backdrop of things you might pin to it. In this design, we wanted to design the island as big table in the middle of the room. The thing about thinking of an island like a piece of furniture in this way is that it allows light and views through and around; it all helps the island feel more delicate and elegant… and the room less taken up by island. The frame is made from solid oak and we stained it black to balance the composition with the stained cork. The sink run is a set of floating drawers that project from the wall and the flooring continues under them - this is important because again, it makes the room feel more spacious. The full height cabinets are purposefully a calm, matt off white. We used Farrow and Ball ’School house white’… because its our favourite ‘white’ of course! All of the whitegoods are integrated into this full height run: oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a gigantic pantry cupboard. A sweet detail is the hand turned cabinet door knobs - The clients are music lovers and the knobs are enlarged versions of the volume knob from a 1970s record player.

The upper cabinets were replaced with taller 36" or 42" ones, elegantly enhancing the room's vertical space while preserving its original design integrity. Flooring: To modernize the flooring, we incorporated Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) over the existing 550 square feet of tile. This transformation brought contemporary elegance while preserving the integrity of the space.

The island also features angled power strips that fit neatly under the edge of the countertop. A Samsung refrigerator, LG built-in microwave, and Bosch dishwasher complete the food storage and cooking area of this kitchen design. Ample lighting brightens up the space, including recessed lights and pendants over the island. Undercabinet lighting highlights the stunning backsplash and offers additional task lighting in the cooking area. This is a kitchen design that will be the center of life for years to come!

My clients were looking for a warm array of tones for their small kitchen that would offer a blend of old and new. We ultimately settled with Kabinart Cabinetry for the furniture parts, utilizing the Arts and Crafts Door Style in Cherry Toffee alongside the Cottage Door Style in Willow Paint with Coffee Glaze accent. Weathered Nickel hardware from Top Knobs was used to maintain the Craftsman style feel of the room (cup pulls for drawers). I highlighted the room with Black Walnut Butcher Block for the island counter top. This added not only additional warmth but also tied in the tones of the room while providing a comfortable resting space while my clients enjoyed their morning coffee. Cortec Click Lock Vinyl for the floor (Blackstone Oak) provided a lovely, long-lasting surface for the floor. Lastly, Verde Butterfly Granite with a large stainless steel undermount sink provided some depth to the perimeter, while the tumbled marble kept things feeling not only rustic, but also added some splashes of light and dark earth tones. Ultimately, we were all thrilled with the outcome. What do you think? :)

Sherwin Williams Renwick Olive is on the walls, The slate tile backsplash runs to the ceiling. The cabinets feature a built in shelf for cookbooks or electronic storage.

This kitchen design in Holt, MI features two-toned textured laminate kitchen cabinets from Diamond Distinction Cabinets from MasterBrand. The darker toned cabinetry is used for the kitchen island, cabinets surrounding the refrigerator, and for the base cabinets, while the upper cabinets are a lighter finish. An MSI linear glass mosaic tile backsplash and Cambria quartz countertop pulls together the color scheme where the two cabinetry colors meet. The cabinets have ample customized storage including built-in spice racks and a pantry with rollout trays. A bi-level peninsula separates the kitchen from the living and dining areas, and includes bar seating for casual dining. A double bowl undermount sink is located in the peninsula, and GE black slate appliances feature throughout the kitchen.
