This kitchen was once half the size it is now and had dark panels throughout. By taking the space from the adjacent Utility Room and expanding towards the back yard, we were able to increase the size allowing for more storage, flow, and enjoyment. We also added on a new Utility Room behind that pocket door you see.

The new kitchen for this English-style 1920s Portland home was inspired by the classic English scullery—and Downton Abbey! Historic homes often undergo several remodels over their lifetime, though these updates can often stray from the home’s original design intention. This couple realized their 1990 kitchen remodel with cherry cabinets and granite countertops no longer felt in sync with the home’s overall aesthetic. Incorporating character and charm into their kitchen was important, and the new finishes now more appropriately reflect the 1920s style of their home.

This mid-century ranch-style home in Pasadena, CA underwent a complete interior remodel and renovation. The kitchen walls separating it from the dining and living rooms were removed creating a sophisticated open-plan entertainment space.

We chose cabinetry made from reclaimed barnwood from Country Roads Associates (in Holmes, NY) as well as a copper farmhouse sink to get the farmhouse feel. Adding the brick wall and reclaimed 2" thick barnwood beam shelving further enhanced the rustic nature of the design. The Caspian blue glass tile by Akdo Tile, stainless steel appliances (Viking, Bosch, Liebherrr, Thermador) and thin Dekton (by Cosentino) counter tops lend the contemporary touch. Check out this absolutely stunning Azul Macaubas quartzite! This client used the material on the island countertop and back splash. This material can be backlit meaning we install LED Panels behind the backsplash our countertops to make it light up! Our clients decided to back light the backsplash and WOW! The beautiful perimeters are done in a white quartz. Take notice in the island countertop as well, the client used a mitered edge giving the top depth and very modern detail. Below is a quick tip for what to consider when choosing a countertop fabricator! Remember when shopping for countertops to not settle for less than perfect craftsmanship. A few tips: They should always vein match any material that has a pattern or veining. This should be followed through with any seams, mitered detail work, backsplash, and waterfall edges. You also want to make sure the seam lines are not super noticeable. Make sure your fabricator has the right tooling, equipment, craftsmen, and machinery to do the job right. Do you have the blues? Well this kitchen design certainly does! Incorporated in the design is the Schuler cherry cabinetry, with door style Sugar Creek, has been paired with Sensa’s Blue Pearl granite. To fully capture the “blue theme”, we added Elida’s Skylight Glass Subway tile throughout the walls and Elida’s Skylight Glass Hexagon Mosaic, where the range hood and stove is located. All appliances in the kitchen are Samsung’s in color Black Stainless Steel. The cabinetry pulls are color Black Bronze provided from Schuler. All in all, the client is not in the blues when it comes to their newly remodeled

This charming one-story 1950s ranch was fully remodeled and taken straight to the present day. Located in a beautiful Hinsdale neighborhood, The Lane was a full remodel and collaboration between owner, contractor, and HaylieRead Design. The design aesthetic pulls in cool blues with polished lines, paired with accent metals and warm woods throughout. This combination created an approachable and contemporary space.

After removing a wall, this once very tiny kitchen opened up into the dinning area, new hardwood floors throughout the house and bright white painted cabinets transformed this tiny kitchen into a spectacular kitchen with it's custom made bistro table in a vineyard theme.
