A mountain modern designed kitchen complete with high-end Thermador appliances, a pot filler, two sinks, wood flat panel cabinets and a large counter height island. The kitchen is open to the dining room and the great room as well as connected to the large exterior deck through large glass sliders. The 10 foot custom walnut dining table was designed by principal interior & furniture designer Emily Roose. The great room linear fireplace has a custom concrete hearth and is clad in black metal as well as rusted steel columns. In between the rusted steel columns are Modular Art Panels that were custom painted and are lit with LED strips running down behind the rusted steel columns. The fireplace wall is clad in custom stained wood panels that also hides away the TV when not in use. We worked with the clients budget by keeping appliances but adding a new color concept, space planning, shelving, tile back splash, paint, and coastal lighting.

The original house was demolished to make way for a two-story house on the sloping lot, with an accessory dwelling unit below. The upper level of the house, at street level, has three bedrooms, a kitchen and living room. The “great room” opens onto an ocean-view deck through two large pocket doors. The master bedroom can look through the living room to the same view. The owners, acting as their own interior designers, incorporated lots of color with wallpaper accent walls in each bedroom, and brilliant tiles in the bathrooms, kitchen, and at the fireplace. This Poggenpohl handleless kitchen is set within a stunning detached property on a lakeside setting. The kitchen area looks onto a large living space surrounded by glass with views over the lake. Using nature as an inspiration we decided to use a natural granite worktop to complement the minimalist style of the Poggenpohl kitchen units. Again in contrast to the clean lines of the units and island the granite back panel edge detail is rough cut rather than a smooth polish. The ceiling is clad in stainless steel however above the island we have a suspended bulkhead in white to help reflect light onto the island surface. This feature also shows off caged black lighting by Buster and Punch. Wall sockets also by Buster and Punch in matt black. The central island is very functional housing both the sink and hob. The Miele hob has integrated extraction which is efficient as well as aesthetically pleasing. No need for a bulky overhead cooker hood interrupting the sensational lake view.

The two upper cabinets shown are lift front for easier access to the items in them. Wall came down to create an open flow to the kitchen and adjoining seating area. A total gut remodel was done to the kitchen; redesigned layout, new cabinetry, appliances, counter tops, plumbing fixtures, flooring, super thick granite island counter tops at two levels and a show stopping LED linear light fixture.

In this kitchen, my client who has a career in sustainability and is an avid outdoorswoman, gave me this challenge: Can we renovate my kitchen using recycled materials? Challenge Accepted! The tile made from recycled tile, the cabinets are made from recycled plastic bottles and cabinet pulls are handcrafted in the USA from recycled steel! While the original layout of the kitchen was a galley kitchen, we made some small tweaks to the layout to maximize storage and counters-space.
