Trois chambres sous les toits ont été réunies pour créer ce petit studio de 21m2 : espace modulable par le lit sur roulettes qui se range sous la cuisine et qui peut aussi devenir canapé. Ce studio offre tous les atouts d’un appartement en optimisant l'espace disponible - un grand dressing, une salle d'eau profitant de lumière naturelle par une vitre, un bureau qui s'insère derrière, cuisine et son bar créant une liaison avec l'espace de vie qui devient chambre lorsque l'on sort le lit. The DeBernardo Kitchen employees acid stained, epoxy sealed, triple acrylic wax floors for an elegant and easy to maintain floor. The clients boast of not having to do anything but lightly mop floors with warm water for over 5-years.

The DIVA COLLECTION combines technology, the warmth of wood, the use of modern materials, and the feelings that only natural materials can convey with their matte surfaces. Examples include fine walnut and the strongly accented grain and porosity of a wood such as oak, which offers the tactile sensation of natural wood. Thanks to special processing, a “mirror” effect can be created using polyester surfaces on ebony or walnut. Specifically, the veneer is given a gloss finish with five coats of waxed polyester varnish (the edges receive some ten coats of varnish) to obtain a unique, prestigious product.

A partir de aquí la intervención se agrupó toda en un mismo gesto. Un gran cofre/mueble que contiene una habitación, la cocina, armarios y la zona de lavandería. La habitación se alza 80cm del suelo, consiguiendo vistas y privacidad al mismo tiempo. El resto se agrupa a su alrededor. En la imagen se puede observar la zona de la cocina.

The public area of the home is all open and includes the kitchen, dining room, and living room. These open on the far end to a covered porch open to the lake.

This studio kitchen includes vertical bamboo cabinets with black granite counter tops, terrazzo flooring, Douglas fir beams, and floor to ceiling windows with a view to the garden.

Our clients wanted to create more space and re-configure the rooms they already had in this terraced house in London SW2. The property was just not big enough to accommodate their busy family life or for entertaining family and friends. They wanted a usable back garden too. One of the main ambitions was to create enough space downstairs for an additional family room combined with a large kitchen dining area. It was essential to be able to divide the different activity spaces too. The final part of the brief was to create something different. The design had to be more than the usual “box stuck on the back of a 1930s house.” Our solution was to look at several ambitious designs to deliver under permitted development. This approach would reduce the cost and timescale of the project significantly. However, as a back-up, we also applied to Lambeth Council for full planning permission for the same design, but with different materials such as a roof clad with zinc. Internally we extended to the rear of the property to create the large family-friendly kitchen, dining and living space our client wanted. The original front room has been divided off with steel framed doors that are double glazed to help with soundproofing. We used a hedgehog glazing system, which is very effective. The extension has a stepped plan, which helps to create internal zoning and to separate the different rooms’ functions. There is a non-symmetrical pitched roof, which is open internally up to the roof planes to maximise the feeling of space. The roof of the extension is clad in zinc with a concealed gutter and an overhang to provide shelter. Black bricks and dark grey mortar give the impression of one material, which ties into the colour of the glazing frames and roof. This palate brings all the elements of the design together, which complements a polished concrete internal floor and a stylish contemporary kitchen by Piqu.

An eating nook is set into one of the exterior bays and open to the kitchen and living areas. Notice the concrete is visible inside and out in key areas.
