This older Minneapolis home received a renovated kitchen, yet kept a bank of old cabinets to keep the original character of the home intact. Granite counter-tops create a beautiful yet functional cooking space.

We completely updated this home from the outside to the inside. Every room was touched because the owner wanted to make it very sell-able. Our job was to lighten, brighten and do as many updates as we could on a shoe string budget. We started with the outside and we cleared the lakefront so that the lakefront view was open to the house. We also trimmed the large trees in the front and really opened the house up, before we painted the home and freshen up the landscaping. Inside we painted the house in a white duck color and updated the existing wood trim to a modern white color. We also installed shiplap on the TV wall and white washed the existing Fireplace brick. We installed lighting over the kitchen soffit as well as updated the can lighting. We then updated all 3 bathrooms. We finished it off with custom barn doors in the newly created office as well as the master bedroom. We completed the look with custom furniture!

The Subzero refrigerator and freezer drawers are completely built into the fir cabinetry to create a seamless look. The dark paint enhances the beauty of the fir cabinetry (Benjamin Moore Mink).

This kitchen shows a casual elegance but maintains it's vintage cottage design. Warm wood cabinets complimented by a green stained island support leather finished black Utatuba granite counters and splash. the T & G above the splash was retained to keep the feeling of the era. The added skylight brings light into a formerly dark kitchen. At night, it is lit by lineal LED lighting hidden around the perimeter of the skylight. Also adding to the sparkle and illumination are lights built into the overhead glass cabinets and under the overhead cabinets. Pendant lights with vintage LED bulbs light the island.

Condos are often a challenge – can’t move water, venting has to remain connected to existing ducting and recessed cans may not be an option. In this project, we had an added challenge – we could not lower the ceiling on the exterior wall due to a continual leak issue that the HOA has put off due to the multi-million-dollar expense. DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Work Centers: prep, baking, clean up, message, beverage and entertaining. Vignette Design: avoid wall to wall cabinets, enhance the work center philosophy Geometry: create a more exciting and natural flow ANGLES: the baking center features a Miele wall oven and Liebherr Freezer, the countertop is 36” deep (allowing for an extra deep appliance garage with stainless tambour). CURVES: the island, desk and ceiling is curved to create a more natural flow. A raised drink counter in Sapele allows for “bellying up to the bar” CIRCLES: the 60” table (seating for 6) is supported by a steel plate and a custom column (used also to support the end of the curved desk – not shown) ISLAND CHALLENGE: To install recessed cans and connect to the existing ducting – we dropped the ceiling 6”. The dropped ceiling curves at the end of the island to the existing ceiling height at the pantry/desk area of the kitchen. Sleek, classic, warm contemporary Kitchen was the order of the day for this Kitchen remodel. A raised dishwasher for ease of loading and unloading dishes was a must. Full height backslashes of Black Galaxy Granite were used throughout. The radius front of the stainless vent hood adds some softness and creates interest.
