Our clients are seasoned home renovators. Their Malibu oceanside property was the second project JRP had undertaken for them. After years of renting and the age of the home, it was becoming prevalent the waterfront beach house, needed a facelift. Our clients expressed their desire for a clean and contemporary aesthetic with the need for more functionality. After a thorough design process, a new spatial plan was essential to meet the couple’s request. This included developing a larger master suite, a grander kitchen with seating at an island, natural light, and a warm, comfortable feel to blend with the coastal setting. Demolition revealed an unfortunate surprise on the second level of the home: Settlement and subpar construction had allowed the hillside to slide and cover structural framing members causing dangerous living conditions. Our design team was now faced with the challenge of creating a fix for the sagging hillside. After thorough evaluation of site conditions and careful planning, a new 10’ high retaining wall was contrived to be strategically placed into the hillside to prevent any future movements. With the wall design and build completed — additional square footage allowed for a new laundry room, a walk-in closet at the master suite. Once small and tucked away, the kitchen now boasts a golden warmth of natural maple cabinetry complimented by a striking center island complete with white quartz countertops and stunning waterfall edge details. The open floor plan encourages entertaining with an organic flow between the kitchen, dining, and living rooms. New skylights flood the space with natural light, creating a tranquil seaside ambiance. New custom maple flooring and ceiling paneling finish out the first floor. Downstairs, the ocean facing Master Suite is luminous with breathtaking views and an enviable bathroom oasis. The master bath is modern and serene, woodgrain tile flooring and stunning onyx mosaic tile channel the golden sandy Malibu beaches. The minimalist bathroom includes a generous walk-in closet, his & her sinks, a spacious steam shower, and a luxurious soaking tub. Defined by an airy and spacious floor plan, clean lines, natural light, and endless ocean views, this home is the perfect rendition of a contemporary coastal sanctuary. his modern new build located in the heart of Burnaby received an entire millwork and countertop package of the utmost quality. The kitchen features book matched walnut, paired with white upper cabinets to add a touch of light in the kitchen. Miele appliances surround the cabinetry. The island has 3 base cabinets that are 36" wide each. Two 3-drawer units and one 4-drawer unit. Besides the beauty of the size of the island and the ability for several people to be prepping at the same time, it becomes an organized menagerie of items you need right at your fingertips!

Our client had this fabulous "heirloom" butcher's block that we incorporated into the island near the prep sink.

New cabinetry features an ivory painted and glazed island with Cambria Hampshire on island and perimeter. The mini wetbar that separates the kitchen and family room features Cambria Laneshaw. On the second floor you'll find a beautiful master suite with Cambria Bellingham countertops on the painted master vanity and Cambria Linwood on the guest bathroom vanity.

В этой необычной квартире была весьма оригинальная планировка - закругленные наружные стены, четыре колонны в гостиной. В ходе эскизной работы было принято решение широко использовать дерево в отделке. Декоратором были спроектированы столярные изделия: стеновые панели, двери и порталы, кухня, гардеробные комнаты, тумбы в санузлах, а также книжные, обеденный, рабочий и журнальные столы. Изделия изготовили наши столяры. Для пола был выбран массив дуба. Специально для этой квартиры были написаны картины московской художницей Ольгой Абрамовой. Ремонт был завершен за 9 месяцев, а сейчас квартира радует хозяев продуманным гармоничным пространством. Подробный отчет о проекте опубликован в сентябрьском номере Мезонин (09/2014 №164 стр. 70-79)

There was a bookcase in this spot before..nothing permanent. The area is now used for extra storage using a shallow depth base cabinet and uppers to the ceiling. It brings the color of the cabinetry to this corner.

Removing the fireplace and borrowing space from the mudroom was a game changer. Essential to the new plan is an inviting island with generous space for storage, meal prep, gatherings and dining.

The upper cabinets have glass inserts, and the lower cabinets are drawers. The island is designed for storage, as well as dining. There is a large built-in refrigerator, and a built-in gas oven.
