Split Level 1970 home of a young and active family of four. The main public spaces in this home were remodeled to create a fresh, clean look. The Jack + Mare demo'd the kitchen and dining room down to studs and removed the wall between the kitchen/dining and living room to create an open concept space with a clean and fresh new kitchen and dining with ample storage. Now the family can all be together and enjoy one another's company even if mom or dad is busy in the kitchen prepping the next meal. The custom white cabinets and the blue accent island (and walls) really give a nice clean and fun feel to the space. The island has a gorgeous local solid slab of wood on top. A local artisan salvaged and milled up the big leaf maple for this project. In fact, the tree was from the University of Portland's campus located right where the client once rode the bus to school when she was a child. So it's an extra special custom piece! (fun fact: there is a bullet lodged in the wood that is visible...we estimate it was shot into the tree 30-35 years ago!) The 'public' spaces were given a brand new waterproof luxury vinyl wide plank tile. A badly level ceiling, solid brick walls, and leftover architectural features that no longer made sense. That is what stood between Michael and Craig and their beautiful kitchen. The kitchen in this 1899 Lancaster City row home was barely functional. So after creating a plan together that maximized the space while staying in the budget, the work began. The entire room was completely gutted... including an 18” brick wall which opened up the corner to make room for more counter space and cabinets. Gutting the room also allowed us to level the ceiling to give a perfect finish to the top of the cabinets. It was amazing to see the kitchen come together. Soft maple cabinets painted with the Simply White finish. The doors were in the flat panel style with a 1/2” overlay. Lina Pearl granite countertops with a Marazzi Midpark Mosaics glazed porcelain backsplash in Shadow with Alabaster grout. Coretec Plus was used for the flooring in the Whittier Oak color. Most of the appliances were purchased from Martin's Appliances – including the stainless steel Elica stove hood.

The existing kitchen was VERY traditional which did not suite the new homeowners taste and more so their functional needs. They LOVE to cook and have all the kitchen tools to create anything from Italian dishes, Asian cuisine to the finest pastries. They needed space to store all of their cooking utensils and their current kitchen just didn’t offer that. The kitchen was confined and adding additional square footage was not possible, therefore our biggest challenge was to fit all their storage and appliance needs into the existing space. Timeless White Kitchen perfectly describes this beautiful remodel we completed over the winter. The original kitchen had 1970's dark oak cabinets with laminate countertops and backsplash. The shape of the kitchen was a U-Shape with upper cabinets over the peninsula, which made the kitchen feel dark and cut off from the rest of the home. For this remodel, took out the U-shape and gave them an L-shaped kitchen instead, giving them extra countertop to the right of the sink. To make up for the storage lost in the upper cabinets and peninsula, we designed a movable island, which could be added on as peninsula piece, an island in the center of the kitchen, or off to the side to allow for extra walking space. We love the functionality of just this piece! The cabinets are flat panel doors and drawers and painted antique white - so beautiful! The countertops on the perimeter are Cambria and the island is butcherblock walnut. The walnut top has 2 drop down leaves, so when needed the homeowner can extend them and create a 6 foot island! The backsplash is a crackled hand-made ceramic tile in a very pretty grey color. The design is in the details for this one for sure! The corner cabinet features a lazy susan, but with and extra 6 inches to incorporate tray storage. In the tall pantry cabinet, there is a lift up door to hide the microwave. One other feature is the hood! This thin hood pulls out when in use and then can be pushed back in when not, leaving a lot of space above the stove. We just love it! The homeowners had just replaced the floor, so we were able to keep that as well. We just love how this kitchen turned out. We wanted to make the kitchen light and bright, but still make sure it fit in with the rest of the home. This kitchen is sure to stand the test of time, from every day living to baking cookies at the holidays!

Esteem removed three existing internal walls to create this large open plan kitchen/dining/living space. We laid all-new hybrid flooring and installed a much larger kitchen for this family.

The island houses an extra-wide under-counter wine fridge with dual cooling zones. The pantry was originally where the fridge is, and during the design phase we explored options of swapping locations to create a more functional work triangle.

Although this home has a small footprint, the central living area boasts vaulted ceilings and ample windows to keep the area light and bright. The neutral tones of the cabinetry and backsplash allow the client to play with pops of color on the walls. The kitchen island features a taller back wall containing storage cabinets which helps control clutter and block views of the kitchen sink from the dining and living areas.
