My wife and I were in need of an in-law suite and shop. We shopped the project around to a few contractors before hearing from a friend about Sterling Brook Custom Homes and how happy they were with their shop. We took a look at our friends build and knew we found a quality contractor. We reached out to Wayne and had a consultation. It was then we knew we found the right builder and design team in Wayne and Cherri. Working with the both Atkins Design Group and Sterling Brook Custom Homes couldn't have been more pleasurable. Everything was laid out for us and every step of the process was discussed up front. As the project progressed we were always kept up to date, good or bad. All of the trades that Sterling Brook used were top notch. If you are looking for honesty, integrity and a partner in a project, look no further than Sterling Brook. Finding a group of this caliber is getting hard to do, very glad we crossed paths and would have them build for us again.

When considering a builder, I would imagine that most clients want to have clear expectations from the beginning, follow through on commitments, attention to detail, all while staying on schedule and budget. What we ended up with at the end of our process was a quality built home that suits our family just like we had imagined. As first time home builders, we were not always sure of what to expect, and had worries along the way that we were doing the right thing. After a thorough review of custom home builders in the DFW area, we selected Sterling Brook Custom Homes for our new home. We were moving from Ohio and had concern about managing the project “long distance”. After our first meeting with Wayne and Cheri, and contacting 5 references, we were positive we made the correct decision. The new home design process was actually fun, as they helped us clarify what we were looking for, while adding practical suggestions when needed. The final design was a huge improvement over what we thought we wanted. The construction process was very well managed from start to finish. Wayne has a great group of subs and suppliers who he respects and values, and they in turn work very hard to be on time, responsive, and provide very high quality service. Wayne uses a construction project software program for his customers that tracks daily progress, posts daily job site pictures, and tracks all financial/budget progress. Wayne assisted in selecting our lot to insure there were not any surprises with the soil, elevation and drainage. We broke ground on the target date, and moved in 7 months later on the weekend we agreed on. Wayne continues to be very responsive in resolving the minor issues that always occur after a new home project. The compliments we receive on the new home are over the top, and we could not be happier with the final product.

Sterling Brook built our custom home and we could not be happier with the process or the result. Wayne Atkins (owner of Sterling Brook) has the highest integrity - he focuses on quality, he is up front and transparent with the process and the costs, and he executes as expected - overall it was delightful to work with him. His wife, Cherri, owns Atkins Design and was the architect for our home and she did an amazing job as well. Our house came in at the expected budget, with extraordinary quality, and was on time to the anticipated timeline - this gets pretty close once the foundation is poured, providing the customers do their part to choose the elements of the house on time. I am not good with design/colors/decorating and Wayne was very patient as we went through the process of choosing things for the house, he had great communication on status, concern resolution, and brainstorming ideas, and he never compromised on quality. Our new home is more beautiful than we imagined and we are delighted by how well the design and the features of the house function. You cannot go wrong with Sterling Brook!

I hired Sterling Brook Custom Homes to build my dream house that I moved into May 2016. I am very satisfied with the quality of services they provided. Specific examples include: 1. Cost estimation and oversight (estimate within 10% of actual cost for original scope). 2. Technical knowledge of building methods and options (especially "green" standards) 3. Onsite supervision and scheduling of subcontractors (arrived on time, no accidents) 4. Problem identification and resolution of subcontractor work (held them accountable) 5. Effective change management when project specifications changed during the job. 6. Communication throughout the job to keep me informed of plans, issues, costs, etc. Would definitely hire them again to build another home, but so happy with this one, don't think this will happen any time soon.

Wayne did a beautiful job building our new home! Every detail was important to him. If we had concerns or questions, he promptly put us at ease with an excellent answer or solution. We were warned by friends and family that building a home is a tough process, but Wayne truly made it an enjoyable experience. His calm, professional demeanor made him really easy to work with, and we could tell his subcontractors love working with him as well. We also appreciated his constant communication to us on the status of our home. We always knew what the schedule was for the week. Another thing people warned us about was the tendency to go over budget, but Wayne's methodology gave us a clear picture for the cost of our home from the very beginning. Also, it seems some builders have a particular style of house they prefer to build, but this is not true for Wayne. He has built a variety of styles of homes, and he supported our decisions in building the modern style that we wanted for our interior. After interviewing Sterling Brook (Wayne), and going through some initial steps, our apprehension faded and we put full faith and trust in he and his wife, who was doing the design work. They worked with us to fully understand what we wanted, and patiently guided us through several revisions to get within our desired budget. They always provided alternatives for floor plans, materials, etc so we could make cost/benefit decisions that fit our goals. Work was completed on time and on budget, and fully met our expectations.
