Our Minneapolis design studio gave this home office a feminine, fashion-inspired theme. The highlight of the space is the custom built-in desk and shelves. The room has a simple color scheme of gray, cream, white, and lavender, with a pop of purple added with the comfy accent chair. I love seeing a house go up from the blueprints to the end of the build. It is always a journey filled with a thousand decisions, some creative on-the-spot thinking and yes, usually a few stressful moments. This Naperville project was a collaboration with a local builder and architect. The Kitchen Studio collaborated by completing the cabinetry design and final layout for the entire home. Around the corner is the home office that is painted a custom color to match the cabinetry. The wall of cabinetry along the back of the room features a roll out printer cabinet, along with drawers and open shelving for books and display. We are pretty sure a lot of work must get done in here with all these handy features! 大人になり、家族が増えると、個室を持つことが減ってきます。でも、やはり憧れるのは狭い部屋でもいいから自分のプライベートスペース＝書斎を持つこと。書斎は静かに本を読むだけでなく、趣味に没頭する部屋、パソコンなどを持ち込んで集中して在宅ワークをする部屋でもあります。書斎、そこはまさしく“自分の城”。お気に入りのデスクや椅子、大きめの本棚や飾り棚など、自分のセンスを活かした部屋のレイアウトを楽しみましょう。プライベートな空間だからこそ他の部屋とはテイストを変え、個性を反映させた思い切った演出も可能です。そんなスペースは確保できない？それなら、リビングの一角やキッチンの一角に、コンパクトなワークスペースを用意してみてはいかがでしょうか。小さなデスクとパソコンをリビングやキッチンの隅に設置すれば、家事動線の延長としてもパソコンを使えて効率的ですね。あとは、デスクライトと簡易の本棚、書類の収納スペースを用意すれば、あなただけの書斎のできあがりです！

自宅に仕事部屋を作るときの鉄則

自宅で仕事をしようとすると、ついつい公私混同してしまうという人も多いのでは。ホームオフィス・書斎には仕事とプライベートのオン・オフの切り替えができるような設計が必要です。メリハリをもたせるためには、どこで仕事とプライベートのスイッチを切り替えるかというのも大事。リビングスペースとつながる廊下に足を踏み入れたり、ドアを開けたりすることで、プライベートな空間と時間への切り替えを意識させることもできますし、離れや屋根裏・ロフトなど目の届きにくい別空間にホームオフィス・書斎を設定することで、仕事部屋を物理的に切り離すという方法もあります。

打ち合わせ目的のホームオフィス・書斎

打ち合わせなどで人と会う機会が多い仕事の場合、同居する家族と来客が鉢合わせる可能性も高まります。また、トイレや洗面所など、家族も利用するところを頻繁に来客者が利用するとなると、家族のプライバシー問題も気になるところです。日中のに人の出入りが激しいのであれば、玄関やトイレは来客用に別に設計する、リビング・ダイニングなどを横切らないでスマートにホームオフィス・書斎に入れるようにするなど、家族との動線を分けて、双方にとって気持ちよく利用できるスペースにしたいですね。
