Close up of the 12ft long custom built in credenza we designed to support the client's office needs. The surface is poured concrete and the wood is oak with a grey stain. We lit the interior bookshelves to optimize it's functionality.

We completely updated this home from the outside to the inside. Every room was touched because the owner wanted to make it very sell-able. Our job was to lighten, brighten and do as many updates as we could on a shoe string budget. We started with the outside and we cleared the lakefront so that the lakefront view was open to the house. We also trimmed the large trees in the front and really opened the house up, before we painted the home and freshen up the landscaping. Inside we painted the house in a white duck color and updated the existing wood trim to a modern white color. We also installed shiplap on the TV wall and white washed the existing Fireplace brick. We installed lighting over the kitchen soffit as well as updated the can lighting. We then updated all 3 bathrooms. We finished it off with custom barn doors in the newly created office as well as the master bedroom. We completed the look with custom furniture!

This built is at the end of a long room with a kitchen at the other end, a dining table in the middle and a desk nearby. This is a small 1600 ft house. Smart storage is needed. It made since to combine dining, and office storage because they share the same space. Shelves are notorious for looking untidy. Notice there is balanced open space and not tons of little objects. I started with what needed to be stored first, the printer and office supplies on the bottom shelf. If this built in was closer to the dining table I may have wanted to put everyday dishes on it. Things that would be easy to grab. Instead the easy to grab items came from the office. Behind the built-in door is a shredder. The deep drawers hold the ugly office and art supplies. I choose a small desk because the space is small and needed to be used as a walk through to the backyard. Also the larger the desk the more stuff that accumulates on it. A smaller surface is a natural system that encourages tidiness. The key is that is also needs to look good, so people honor it and usually take care of it. I call it creating a sacred space that demands respect. It really works, like magic. But only if everything has a place and if not something needs to go. Purging is powerful!

This light and airly home office space keeps things simple with a farmhouse style desk with open shelves. The cream winged backed chair adds brings the space up to another level of casual yet elegant.

This room was used as a movie room by the previous owner. Again, left the wood beam, replaced the yellow lutron halogen ceiling lights with recessed LED can lights, ran electrical for the fan, replaced the bulky off white shutters from 1992 with a pull down fabric shade with liner, removed the corner built-in unit they had. Tons of natural light pours in from the windows and complements that gorgeous hardwood storage and brings out the little pops of color strategically placed on the shelves. The client came with the huge antique desk that had been passed down form generation to generation and we just had to use it! A great starting point of course but the room needed a little bit of umpiring up with a colorful rug and the divided mirror to make the room feel larger. Who doesn't love the rich colors of the molding too?!

This project is the result of research and work lasting several months. This magnificent Haussmannian apartment will inspire you if you are looking for refined and original inspiration. Here the lights are decorative objects in their own right. Sometimes they take the form of a cloud in the children's room, delicate bubbles in the parents' or floating halos in the living rooms. The majestic kitchen completely hugs the long wall. It is a unique creation by eggersmann by Paul & Benjamin. A very important piece for the family, it has been designed both to allow them to meet and to welcome official invitations. The master bathroom is a work of art. There is a minimalist Italian stone shower. Wood gives the room a chic side without being too conspicuous. It is the same wood used for the construction of boats: solid, noble and above all waterproof.
