Kitchens By Design

Valerie had just returned to Alaska and I am gratefully she came back. My husband and I purchased a home with a 1988 kitchen. We were using another company at the time who misrepresented their delivery time and we were expecting a house full of family and friends to visit Alaska, I asked her if she could be my saving grace. She actually represented a product that was better than my initial choice. She delivered..On time and her follow thru with my contractor was professional. When the cabinet arrived they were perfect and fit as measured. If I had a question she responded promptly and always thought about how she could please us. We used her skill and expertise in every room that we needed cabinets. My closet is a dream come true. Would I recommend her? Absolutely! Will I hire her company again? No Question!

When designing my kitchen renovation Valerie worked to satisfy my two most important criteria; I needed it to be wheelchair accessible and I wanted it to be beautiful! Valerie's expertise was invaluable in creating a gorgeous barrier-free kitchen. She took the time to learn my specific requirements so that I can manage independently from my wheelchair. This resulted in her many great ideas that have made food prep, cooking, and clean up much easier for me! One of my favorite design elements is the pull-out prep station. My chair fits under perfectly and allows me to work at a comfortable height...no more sore shoulders! Thanks Valerie, you've made everyday life much, much easier!

Val stayed in touch with us throughout the project and by the time this major renovation was complete, we were absolutely thrilled with the finished product. This redesign completely changed the way we move around the kitchen and how we entertain. It has been an absolute hit. The countertops, flooring and cabinets are the highest quality and have created a wonderful kitchen environment. Eighteen months ago, we took on another major remodel and built a new master bath suite and walk through closet. Kitchen's by Valerie designed the bathroom and closet and all the fixtures and cabinets. The end result has been an overwhelming success. We absolutely love the layout and functionality of the bathroom and closets. We highly recommend Val Hurst and Kitchens by Valerie for all kitchen and bath designs. Val is very friendly, easy to work with and very professional and competent. We have since seen other work in Kodiak that Val designed and it was also of the highest quality and added both beauty and functionality to the kitchen and living areas.
