This exercise room is below the sunroom for this health conscious family. The exercise room (the lower level of the three-story addition) is also bright, with full size windows. This 1961 Cape Cod was well-sited on a beautiful acre of land in a Washington, DC suburb. The new homeowners loved the land and neighborhood and knew the house could be improved. The owners loved the charm of the home’s façade and wanted the overall look to remain true to the original home and neighborhood. Inside, the owners wanted to achieve a feeling of warmth and comfort. The family wanted to use lots of natural materials, like reclaimed wood floors, stone, and granite. In addition, they wanted the house to be filled with light, using lots of large windows where possible. Every inch of the house needed to be rejuvenated, from the basement to the attic. When all was said and done, the homeowners got a home they love on the land they cherish The homeowners also wanted to be able to do lots of outdoor living and entertaining. A new blue stone patio, with grill and refrigerator make outdoor dining easier, while an outdoor fireplace helps extend the use of the space all year round. Brick and Hardie board siding are the perfect complement to the slate roof. The original slate from the rear of the home was reused on the front of the home and the front garage so that it would match. New slate was applied to the rear of the home and the addition. This project was truly satisfying and the homeowners LOVE their new residence.

This garage is transformed into a multi functional gym and utilities area. The led profiles in the ceiling make this space really stand out and gives it that wow factor! The mirrors on the wall are back lit in different shades of white, colour changing and dimmable. Colour changing for a fun effect and stylish when lit in a warm white. It is key to add lighting into the space with the correct shade of white so the different lighting fixtures compliment each other.

The home gym is bright and funky with magenta and teal forming the main palette. New storage and an oversized mirror complete the space.

Our Carmel design-build studio was tasked with organizing our client’s basement and main floor to improve functionality and create spaces for entertaining. In the basement, the goal was to include a simple dry bar, theater area, mingling or lounge area, playroom, and gym space with the vibe of a swanky lounge with a moody color scheme. In the large theater area, a U-shaped sectional with a sofa table and bar stools with a deep blue, gold, white, and wood theme create a sophisticated appeal. The addition of a perpendicular wall for the new bar created a nook for a long banquette. With a couple of elegant cocktail tables and chairs, it demarcates the lounge area. Sliding metal doors, chunky picture ledges, architectural accent walls, and artsy wall sconces add a pop of fun. On the main floor, a unique feature fireplace creates architectural interest. The traditional painted surround was removed, and dark large format tile was added to the entire chase, as well as rustic iron brackets and wood mantel. The moldings behind the TV console create a dramatic dimensional feature, and a built-in bench along the back window adds extra seating and offers storage space to tuck away the toys. In the office, a beautiful feature wall was installed to balance the built-ins on the other side. The all-black gym is a stunning space that is sure to inspire your workout. With its sleek and modern design, it is the perfect place to push yourself to new limits. The gym is flooded with natural light, thanks to its positioning facing the courtyard. This not only provides a bright and airy atmosphere but also creates a sense of calm and tranquillity, making it the perfect place to focus on your fitness goals.

In September of 2015, Boston magazine opened its eleventh Design Home project at Turner Hill, a residential, luxury golf community in Ipswich, MA. The featured unit is a three story residence with an eclectic, sophisticated style. Situated just miles from the ocean, this idyllic residence has top of the line appliances, exquisite millwork, and lush furnishings.
