Rose Interiors Photographer: M-Buck Studio This charming house wraps all of the conveniences of a modern, open concept floor plan inside of a wonderfully detailed modern farmhouse exterior. The front elevation sets the tone with its distinctive twin gable roofline and hipped main level roofline. Large forward facing windows are sheltered by a deep and inviting front porch, which is further detailed by its use of square columns, rafter tails, and old world copper lighting. Inside the foyer, all of the public spaces for entertaining guests are within eyesight. At the heart of this home is a living room bursting with traditional moldings, columns, and tiled fireplace surround. Opposite and on axis with the custom fireplace, is an expansive open concept kitchen with an island that comfortably seats four. During the spring and summer months, the entertainment capacity of the living room can be expanded out onto the rear patio featuring stone pavers, stone fireplace, and retractable screens for added convenience. When the day is done, and it’s time to rest, this home provides four separate sleeping quarters. Three of them can be found upstairs, including an office that can easily be converted into an extra bedroom. The master suite is tucked away in its own private wing off the main level stair hall. Lastly, more entertainment space is provided in the form of a lower level complete with a theatre room and exercise space.

This wet bar features Polo Blue cabinets and floating shelf from Grabill Cabinets. They are set off by a crisp, white countertop, metallic subway tile and antique gold bar pulls.

Birchwood Construction had the pleasure of working with Jonathan Lee Architects to revitalize this beautiful waterfront cottage. Located in the historic Belvedere Club community, the home's exterior design pays homage to its original 1800s grand Southern style. To honor the iconic look of this era, Birchwood craftsmen cut and shaped custom rafter tails and an elegant, custom-made, screen door. The home is framed by a wraparound front porch providing incomparable Lake Charlevoix views. The interior is embellished with unique flat matte-finished countertops in the kitchen. The raw look complements and contrasts with the high gloss grey tile backsplash. Custom wood paneling captures the cottage feel throughout the rest of the home. We opted for an Art Deco-inspired scheme. We designed the bar’s concave wood panels which were coated with a platinum finish. The rear wall area onto which shelves are mounted is sheathed with sheets of antiqued mercury glass. There are an aged brass sink and its matching faucet on the left side.

This wet bar is part of a big, multi-room project for a family of four that also included a new mudroom and a primary bath remodel. The existing family/playroom was more playroom than family room. The addition of a wet bar/beverage station would make the area more enjoyable for adults as well as kids. Design Objectives -Cold Storage for craft beers and kids drinks -Stay with a more masculine style -Display area for stemware and other collectibles Design Challenge -Provide enough cold refrigeration for a wide range of drinks while also having plenty of storage THE RENEWED SPACE By incorporating three floating shelves the homeowners are able to display all of their stemware and other misc. items. Anything they don’t want on display can be hidden below in the base cabinet roll-outs. This is a nice addition to the space that adults and kids can enjoy at the same time. The undercounter refrigeration is efficient and practical – saving everyone a trip to the kitchen when in need of refreshment, while also freeing up plenty of space in the kitchen fridge!
