This beautiful rural home is a total refurbishment of a derelict granary and piggery, and following a recommendation from a previous customer of ours, this client came to us to help them create a country kitchen with both traditional and contemporary elements. To achieve the quality and detail required for this kitchen, we designed a traditional in-frame shaker kitchen and had it handmade here in Sussex. It is entirely handmade in veneered oak with solid oak drawer boxes. The kitchen is painted in Soft Olive, a timeless green and the perfect colour scheme for a country kitchen. It works beautifully with the oak accents and granite worktops. The design did start out with a two-tone colour scheme, but with so much space and natural light in this room, we advised using the rich green across all the furniture and that the dimensions and style of the room could take the colour without being too dominated by it. For the worktops and window sills, the client wanted something light but not quartz, so they chose a granite stone in Valley White from Sussex Stone & Ceramic, a beautifully patterned stone that works so well in this scheme. Aged metals work beautifully in more traditional style kitchens, and the American Copper knurled handles and knobs by Crofts and Assinder are the perfect choices here, especially coupled with the brass hinges on the in-frame doors.

This is one of our favorite kitchen projects! We started by deleting two walls and a closet, followed by framing in the new eight foot window and walk-in pantry. We stretched the existing kitchen across the entire room, and built a huge nine foot island with a gas range and custom hood. New cabinets, appliances, elm flooring, custom woodwork, all finished off with a beautiful rustic white brick.

Finished in a country green distressed look this kitchen is really eye catching. The vaulted ceiling and varied cabinets add to the charm. This space is not only stunning it is very functional. Before, the kitchen was very closed off, dark and did not have a good flow. When designing the new kitchen, we reconfigured the layout, which allowed us to create a more linear design that functioned better for our client and her needs. This new layout created ample storage that allowed our client to organize her kitchen, have all the upgraded interior features and a place for everything. We also made sure all the appliances needed were incorporated into the kitchen along with a 60" refrigerator! The island became a major focal point, like a piece of furniture with decorative legs, that grounded the space and became the main gathering place with enough seating for five. Our client selected a really pretty distressed green inset cabinetry for the main kitchen area that really set the tone for the new farmhouse style in the home. The accent decorative range hood, glass uppers with the X Mullions, granite countertops, farmhouse sink, statement faucet and the handcrafted tile backsplash she selected tied everything together.
