This homage to prairie style architecture located at The Rim Golf Club in Payson, Arizona was designed for owner/builder/landscaper Tom Beck. This home appears literally fastened to the site by way of both careful design as well as a lichen-loving organic material palatte. Forged from a weathering steel roof (aka Cor-Ten), hand-formed cedar beams, laser cut steel fasteners, and a rugged stacked stone veneer base, this home is the ideal northern Arizona getaway. Expansive covered terraces offer views of the Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish designed golf course, the largest stand of Ponderosa Pines in the US, as well as the majestic Mogollon Rim and Stewart Mountains, making this an ideal place to beat the heat of the Valley of the Sun. Exterior Painting: Beautiful, isn't it? For the stucco, we used Sherwin William's SP Satin - Virtual Taupe SW7039. For the trim we used Sherwin William's SP Gloss - Accessible Beige SW7036. The doors were painted with Sherwin William's SP Gloss - Rustic Red SW 7593.

This birds eye view of the house demonstrates the stepped levels and how the design follows the contours of the slope. Each of the three blocks are connected by glazed link spaces. This design has a simple logic to arrange a large house on a sloping site, without the costs of excavating large quantities of material to cut into the slope.
