Renovation of an existing mews house, transforming it from a poorly planned out and finished property to a highly desirable residence that creates wellbeing for its occupants. Wellstudio demolished the existing bedrooms on the first floor of the property to create a spacious new open plan kitchen living dining area which enables residents to relax together and connect. Wellstudio inserted two new windows between the garage and the corridor on the ground floor and increased the glazed area of the garage door, opening up the space to bring in more natural light and thus allowing the garage to be used for a multitude of functions. Wellstudio replanned the rest of the house to optimise the space, adding two new compact bathrooms and a utility room into the layout.

in this picture you can see a high level IP CCTV camera and an IP Integrated motion and lux sensor. these are both used for accurate motion detection with tripwire detection set up on the camera which gives less false alarms than standard motion detection. Accuracy is enhanced with the use of the standalone motion sensor. the lux sensor is used to lower and raise the blinds based on sun position and temperature.

The garden facade is glazed terra cotta and aluminum, and features a vertical garden. The upper terrace leads directly to the kitchen, and the garden is planted with shade loving ferns, mosses, and sedge grasses. The roof terrace at top extends across the entire building. Historic Approval: We rebuilt the walls and roof, installed new siding, a copper roof and new double-hung windows. We also replaced the two existing windows on the rear wall with three ganged windows. As this affected the exterior façade, these changes required the approval of the city’s historic preservation review board. We designed an arched opening over the 3 new windows to echo the original arched window openings. To accomplish this, we installed an arched steel beam over the new windows. Beautiful French inspired home in the heart of Lincoln Park Chicago. Rising amidst the grand homes of North Howe Street, this stately house has more than 6,600 SF. In total, the home has seven bedrooms, six full bathrooms and three powder rooms. Designed with an extra-wide floor plan (21'-2"), achieved through side-yard relief, and an attached garage achieved through rear-yard relief, it is a truly unique home in a truly stunning environment. The centerpiece of the home is its dramatic, 11-foot-diameter circular stair that ascends four floors from the lower level to the roof decks where panoramic windows (and views) infuse the staircase and lower levels with natural light.
