This modern ADU build was designed by Wittman Estes Architecture + Landscape and pre-fab tech builder NODE. Our shou sugi ban Gendai siding with a clear alkyd finish clads the exterior. Featured in Dwell, Designmilk and other online architectural publications, this tiny project packs a punch with affordable design and a focus on sustainability.
“A Seattle homeowner hired Wittman Estes to design an affordable, eco-friendly unit to live in her backyard as a way to generate rental income. The modern structure is outfitted with a solar roof that provides all of the energy needed to power the unit and the main house. To make it happen, the firm partnered with NODE, known for their design-focused, carbon negative, non-toxic homes, resulting in Seattle’s first DADU (Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit) with the International Living Future Institute’s (IFLI) zero energy certification.”

Moore House DesignA country club respite for our busy professional Bostonian clients. Our clients met in college and have been weekending at the Aquidneck Club every summer for the past 20+ years. The condos within the original clubhouse seldom come up for sale and gather a loyalist following. Our clients jumped at the chance to be a part of the club's history for the next generation. Much of the club’s exteriors reflect a quintessential New England shingle style architecture. The internals had succumbed to dated late 90s and early 2000s renovations of inexpensive materials void of craftsmanship. Our client’s aesthetic balances on the scales of hyper minimalism, clean surfaces, and void of visual clutter. Our palette of color, materiality & textures kept to this notion while generating movement through vintage lighting, comfortable upholstery, and Unique Forms of Art.

Rethink the idea of home with the Denali 36 Apartment. Located part of the Cumberland Plateau of Alabama, the 36’x 36’ structure has a fully finished garage on the lower floor for equine, garage or storage and a spacious apartment above ideal for living space. For this model, the owner opted to enclose 24 feet of the single shed roof for vehicle parking, leaving the rest for workspace. The optional garage package includes roll-up insulated doors, as seen on the side of the apartment.
The fully finished apartment has 1,000+ sq. ft. living space –enough for a master suite, guest bedroom and bathroom, plus an open floor plan for the kitchen, dining and living room. Complementing the handmade breezeway doors, the owner opted to wrap the posts in cedar and sheetrock the walls for a more traditional home look.
The exterior of the apartment matches the allure of the interior. Jumbo western red cedar cupola, 2”x6” Douglas fir tongue and groove siding all around and shed roof dormers finish off the old-fashioned look the owners were aspiring for.
Gradient Architecture PLLCThe spaces within maximize light penetration from the East and West facades through the use of skylights on a stepped floor plate and windows that project beyond the building of the envelope.
DK HomesDesigned for entertaining and family gatherings, the open floor plan connects the different levels of the home to outdoor living spaces. A private patio to the side of the home is connected to both levels by a mid-level entrance on the stairway. This access to the private outdoor living area provides a step outside of the traditional condominium lifestyle into a new desirable, high-end stand-alone condominium.

Dyer Studio Inc.Converted from an existing Tuff Shed garage, the Beech Haus ADU welcomes short stay guests in the heart of the bustling Williams Corridor neighborhood.
Natural light dominates this self-contained unit, with windows on all sides, yet maintains privacy from the primary unit. Double pocket doors between the Living and Bedroom areas offer spatial flexibility to accommodate a variety of guests and preferences. And the open vaulted ceiling makes the space feel airy and interconnected, with a playful nod to its origin as a truss-framed garage.
A play on the words Beach House, we approached this space as if it were a cottage on the coast. Durable and functional, with simplicity of form, this home away from home is cozied with curated treasures and accents. We like to personify it as a vacationer: breezy, lively, and carefree.
