We created this 1250 sq. ft basement under a house that initially only had crawlspace and minimal dugout area for mechanicals. To create this basement, we excavated 60 dump trucks of dirt through a 3’x2’ crawlspace opening to the outside.

Gorgeous custom 2-story white-brick home with 3-car drive-through garage and curricular front driveway. The home features a rustic exposed beam front entrance. Inside, it is built with hardwood floors throughout along with wood paneled ceilings in the foyer and hallways. Other rooms feature exposed beam ceilings and the great room exhibits a wonderful vaulted wood ceiling with exposed beams and floor to ceiling natural lighting. The interior of the home has exposed brick walls in the living, kitchen and eating areas. The kitchen features a large island for both food prep and an eating area with bar stools. The abundant white kitchen cabinetry is accompanied by stainless steel appliances and ample countertop space. To reach the upstairs, there is a modern open staircase which is accented with windows on each landing. The master bedroom features a large wood inlaid trey ceiling and sliding barn doors to the master bath. The master bath includes large his and her vanities as well as a separate tub and step less walk-in shower. The upstairs incorporates a curved open-rail view of the expansive great room below. The home also has a weight room/gym area. The outdoor living spaces include an outdoor brick fireplace accompanied by complete outdoor stainless steel appliances kitchen for great entertaining. The backyard includes a spacious rustic covered pavilion and a separate brick finished fire pit. The landscape includes a fully sodded yard and flowering trees.

A house located at a southern Vermont ski area, this home is based on our Lodge model. Custom designed, pre-cut and shipped to the site by Habitat Post & Beam, the home was assembled and finished by a local builder. Photos by Michael Penney, architectural photographer. See this beautiful young family's home in Murphy come to life. Once grey and mostly monochromatic, we were hired to bring color, life and purposeful functionality to several spaces. A family study was created to include loads of color, workstations for four, and plenty of storage. The dining and family rooms were updated by infusing color, transitional wall decor and furnishings with beautiful, yet sustainable fabrics. The master bath was reinvented with new granite counter tops, art and accessories to give it some additional personality. Our most recent update includes a multi-functional teen hang out space and a private loft that serves as an executive’s work-from-home office, mediation area and a place for this busy mom to escape and relax.

The addition acts as a threshold from a new entry to the expansive site beyond. Glass becomes the connector between old and new, top and bottom, copper and stone. Reclaimed wood treads are used in a minimally detailed open stair connecting living spaces to a new hall and bedrooms above. Photography: Jeffrey Totaro
