Barbara did a great job on my home office. She listens well and works hard to truly understand her clients and their design aesthetic. She also was very mindful of budget and was able to recommend really great ideas that leveraged existing furniture complimented by new choices. Barbara is a great interior designer to work with. She made our home beautiful and we absolutely love her design! When working with her, she listened to her clients’ voice and comprised their suggestions when keeping her design ideas independent. The first design that Barbara presented was beautiful- but it didn't feel like "us". After our feedback, Barbara arranged for a gallery to bring several pieces of art to our home that she hoped we would like. We purchased two for our dinning room, and she developed a completely nee design for us with the art as the jumping-oaf point for the dinning room, living room, foyer and powder room. Our decor is unique, young and timeless. She added moulding and wallpaper to our dinning room ceiling, and custom rug to our dinning room floor. She framed fabric to create a "painting" to hang over our living room fireplace. She designed a custom runner for our stairs, and when the installation was not perfect, she arranged for it to be completely re-done at no cost to us. She added pillows, vases, and other accessories to make it look complete. Our guests love our decor, and we are very pleased with it too.

We cannot say enough about the amazing job that Barbara Feinstein did with the interior design of our new home. We moved from out of state to a similarly sized new home but with a different floor plan and room sizes. Barbara designed our entire home, rearranging and reupholstering, but using many of our existing pieces. She listened carefully to gain an understanding of our tastes and preferences, and created a home that was just what we wanted. Barbara is particularly brilliant with color – the pallet is nuanced, warm, and inviting. The rooms flow one to another, but each room is unique. She worked with our builder to coordinate our project while we were still living out of state. Our favorite aspect of the project – she designed beautiful built-in book cases for our living room and built-in book cases and a partner desk in the study. Finally, it was a pleasure to work with Barbara. She is open and creative. And she has a wonderful team to assist her. Designing with Barbara was an enjoyable experience, and I know we will be coming back to her again and again for future projects. Spouse review – Barbara designed our outdoor spaces as well – a patio and a deck. They flow nicely from the house and are great spaces to entertain – functional as well as attractive! We enjoy the comfortable seating around our fire pit to make s’mores! And I especially like the grilling station on the deck with lots of seating for family dinners.

We love Barbara's ability to weave different colors, patterns and textures into a room's design and pick high quality pieces to fulfill it. 2018: We were so happy with the work Barbara did downstairs that we hired her again when it was time to renovate two bathrooms (master bath and kids' bath). Once again, Barbara's attention to detail was noteworthy, and she did a great job giving a different (and fitting) feel to each room. As with the downstairs, she worked with our needs and preferences -- I told her I needed part of the kids' bathroom to be a certain way, and she delivered. P.S. We continue to enjoy the rooms she designed for us previously, and I can say that our goals were accomplished -- they are lovely, but they are not museums that people are afraid to go into. 2016: We hired Barbara to design several rooms on the main level of our new house -- we told her we wanted them to be sophisticated and polished because they are the rooms we entertain in but we didn't want them to be so overdone that we'd be afraid to use them. Barbara delivered! Not only did she suggest excellent choices for each of the rooms, there was a unity and flow among them. But she didn't take over: we were part of the process, as she respected our thoughts and concerns and integrated furniture and artwork that we wanted to keep into her design. She even prioritized the room that we hated the most! On a personal level, Barbara is warm and friendly. She is also a true professional who is responsive, reliable and considerate. Barbara's portfolio filled with colorful and comfortable rooms led us to contact her. She was professional and thorough, and when we were uncertain about her first proposal, she provided another that we loved. She stayed within budget and worked with some of our existing furniture. Review from 2018: Writing an updated review as we started another round of decorating. We finally got settled into the house and had our last kid last year and since things calmed down, decided it was time to work on the finishing touches. We of course turned back to Barbara and she has not disappointed. Our initial project together - our request was to fill the space with big and practical items and that's exactly what was done, beautifully. But now that we've settled and gotten a feel for the space and what works for us, we have been working room by room to finalize the details and make it feel like home. From picking out artwork and knick-knacks, to stair runners, to fixing up the bookcases, no detail is overlooked. And no detail picked in haste. Everything flows, everything is exactly where it needs to be. The rooms she has finished look like pictures out of home decor magazines and even my friends who are in the ID world are impressed. She has amazed us once again and turned our house into a warm and inviting home. Highly recommend to at least meet her if you are thinking of making changes to your home. You will not be disappointed. Review from 2015: We were first time home buyers, moving from a 1200 square foot apartment in NYC to a several thousand square foot home in the suburbs so we were starting from scratch as we were getting rid of all of our furniture. I came across Barbara's website online and really liked her style so asked to meet with her. She happily met us at our apartment and we had an instant connection with her. She was calm, friendly, and very professional (not to mention stylish!) But most importantly she listened to what we said and was able to get a sense of our style from the get-go. We had met with a number of designers before her, but knew Barbara was the right fit from our first meeting. We started our design process with her in February of 2015. It is now November 2015 and the first round of our decorating is almost complete and we couldn't be happier. The rooms in our house are quite large with overly high ceilings, so the furniture we needed was to be larger than average to make the rooms feel "full" for lack of a better word. She found or had custom furniture made and it is: 1) phenomenal looking; 2) high quality and well-made; and 3) very comfortable. Barbara was always considerate of our budget and presented us with multiple options so we could choose the right fit for us. We never felt pressured to spend more than we felt comfortable with. Nor did we feel pressured to go with the first room design she presented. If something didn't work for us, she was more than happy to present other options, but honestly, she was spot on most of the time and we didn't feel the need to make a lot of changes. Like I said, she was able to pick up our style very quickly. And if I found something on my own that I presented to her and she really didn't think it would work, she would let me know, which I appreciated. Barbara was always considerate while working in our home, making sure to be on-site before any vendors or deliveries were made and staying and overseeing set-up. When there was an imperfection in anything she worked with the vendors to get replacements in a timely fashion. And the vendors she works with were always very courteous and friendly while in my house. They were professional and efficient as well. We plan to continue working with Barbara as we want to continue finding artwork and some more decor. Working with her has been an enjoyable experience. If you're thinking of doing any sort of home design project I highly recommend at least meeting with her - I think you'll be sold on her as we were. And I know you'll be happy with the outcome.

Barbara Feinstein is very creative, understands and accepts needs of the client, but she also has the ability to have the client be open to change, but is also respectful to the client. She has very good resources and team of vendors with whom she works. Her prices are fair and she stays within budget.

Barbara did a number of room in my home in Edgemont when we moved here from California. She worked in a really collaborative way and totally respected my opinions and wishes. She stayed on budget and the painters and carpenters she used were true professionals. We were very pleased with the results, and nine years later still are!
