Custom Home, Interior Architecture project - view of elegant foyer with living room and stair beyond. Paneled opening into stair hall, inlaid marble flooring and cream painted trim and wainscoting. This formal living space features a combination of traditional and modern architectural features. This space features a coffered ceiling, two stories of windows, modern light fixtures, built in shelving/bookcases, and a custom cast concrete fireplace surround.

Elaborate and welcoming foyer that has custom faux finished walls and a gold leafed dome ceiling. JP Weaver molding was added to the layered ceiling to make this a one of a kind entryway.

A view of the front door leading into the foyer and the central hall, beyond. The front porch floor is of local hand crafted brick. The vault in the ceiling mimics the gable element on the front porch roof.

Our inspiration for this home was an updated and refined approach to Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Prairie-style”; one that responds well to the harsh Central Texas heat. By DESIGN we achieved soft balanced and glare-free daylighting, comfortable temperatures via passive solar control measures, energy efficiency without reliance on maintenance-intensive Green “gizmos” and lower exterior maintenance. The client’s desire for a healthy, comfortable and fun home to raise a young family and to accommodate extended visitor stays, while being environmentally responsible through “high performance” building attributes, was met. Harmonious response to the site’s micro-climate, excellent Indoor Air Quality, enhanced natural ventilation strategies, and an elegant bug-free semi-outdoor “living room” that connects one to the outdoors are a few examples of the architect’s approach to Green by Design that results in a home that exceeds the expectations of its owners. We had so much fun decorating this space. No detail was too small for Nicole and she understood it would not be completed with every detail for a couple of years, but also that taking her time to fill her home with items of quality that reflected her taste and her families needs were the most important issues. As you can see, her family has settled in.
