Well, not this one! When I purchased this floating home from my aunt and uncle, I undertook a huge out-of-state remodel. Up for the challenge, I grabbed my water wings, sketchpad, & measuring tape. It was sink or swim for Patricia Lockwood to finish before the end of 2014. The big reveal for the finished houseboat on Sauvie Island will be in the summer of 2015 - so stay tuned.

Our carpenters labored every detail from chainsaws to the finest of chisels and brad nails to achieve this eclectic industrial design. This project was not about just putting two things together, it was about coming up with the best solutions to accomplish the overall vision. A true meeting of the minds was required around every turn to achieve "rough" in its most luxurious state. Featuring multiple Columbia Cabinet finishes; contrasting backsplashes, wall textures and flooring are all part of what makes this project so unique! Features include: Sharp microwave drawer, glass front wine fridge, fully integrated dishwasher, Blanco compost bin recessed into the counter, Walnut floating shelves, and barn house lighting. This three story loft development was the harbinger of the revitalization movement in Downtown Phoenix. With a versatile layout and industrial finishes, Studio D’s design softened the space while retaining the commercial essence of the loft. The design focused primarily on furniture and fixtures with some material selections. Targeting a high end aesthetic, the design lead was able to value engineer the budget by mixing custom designed pieces with retail pieces, concentrating the effort on high impact areas.

This amazing, U-shaped Memorial (Houston, TX 77024) custom kitchen design was influenced by the "The Great Gatsby" era with its custom zinc flared vent hood with nickel plated laminate straps. This terrific hood flares in on the front and the sides. The contrasting finishes help to add texture and character to this fully remodeled kitchen. This hood is considerably wider than the cooktop below. It's actually 60" wide with an open back splash and no cabinets on either side. We love to showcase vent hoods in most of our designs because it serves as a great conversation piece when entertaining family and friends. A good design tip is to always make the vent hood larger than the stove. It makes an incredible statement! The antiqued, mirror glass cabinets feature a faux finish with a furniture like feel. The large back splash features a zig zag design, often called "chevron pattern." The french sconces with nickel plated shades are beautifully displayed on each side of the gorgeous "La Cornue" stove adding bling to the kitchen's magnificence and giving an overall elegant look with easy clean up. Additionally, there are two (2) highbrow chandeliers by Curry & Company, gives the kitchen the love needed to be a step above the norm. The island bar has a farmhouse sink and a full slab of "Fantasy Brown" marble with seating for five. There is tons of storage throughout the kitchen with plenty of drawer and cabinet space on both sides of the island. The sub-zero refrigerator is totally integrated with cupboards and drawers to match. Another advantage of this variety of refrigeration is that you create furniture-style cabinetry. This is a truly great idea for a dateless design transformation in Houston with raised-panel cupboards and paneled appliances. Polished nickel handles, drawer pulls and faucet hardware complete the design.

In the kitchen, the caramel creaminess of the bamboo cabinetry in this open-format kitchen is counter-balanced by the grey tile and salt and pepper ripple in the counters. Quite a tasty combo.

The heart of the project was the remodel of the kitchen which saw the biggest change. We removed 3 walls to create an open floor plan so we could fit a 7' island and the new dining area. We decided to mix blue and white shaker cabinets together with a boho backsplash.

This house from 1980’s had enclosed dining room separated with walls from the family room and the kitchen. The builder’s original kitchen was poorly laid out with just one bank of drawers. There was hardly any storage space for today’s lifestyle. The wall dividing the family room and the kitchen from the dining room was removed to create an open concept space. Moving the kitchen sink to the corner freed up more space for the pots and pans drawers. An island was added for extra storage and an eating area for the couple. This eclectic interior has white and grey kitchen cabinets with granite and butcher block countertops. The walnut butcher block on the island created the focal point and added some contrast to the high gloss cabinets and the concrete look marmoleum floor. The fireplace facade is done in tiles which replicate rusted metal. The dining room ceiling was done with cove lighting. The house was brought up to today’s lifestyle of living for the owners. This kitchen proves small East sac bungalows can have high function and all the storage of a larger kitchen. A large peninsula overlooks the dining and living room for an open concept. A lower countertop areas gives prep surface for baking and use of small appliances. Geometric hexite tiles by fireclay are finished with pale blue grout, which complements the upper cabinets. The same hexite pattern was recreated by a local artist on the refrigerator panes. A textured striped linen fabric by Ralph Lauren was selected for the interior clerestory windows of the wall cabinets.

At the heart of this New Hope, PA kitchen design is a large, T-shaped island that includes a work area, storage, and a table top that serves as a dining table. The Koch Cabinetry island and hood are both a Seneca door style in a dark wood finish, while the perimeter kitchen cabinets are a Prairie door style in painted white. Both cabinet finishes are perfectly complemented by a multi-toned White Bahamas granite countertop with an eased edge and Richelieu transitional hardware in antique nickel. The cabinets have ample storage accessories including roll outs, a cutlery divider, pull out spice storage, tray divider, wine rack, and much more. The island incorporates a Blanco Siligranit farmhouse sink with a pull down sprayer faucet and soap dispenser. An angled power strip is installed on the island for easy access to electrical items. The kitchen remodel incorporated new appliances including a GE Cafe counter-depth refrigerator, dishwasher, and range, as well as a Whirlpool beverage refrigerator. The new kitchen floor is 12 x 24 Polis It Rocks in Sandstone.

We designed a contemporary rear extension to open the dark kitchen and create a bright open plan dining room. The extension features fixed glazing panels and a large door opening to flood the space with light. The colourful tiled backsplash add character to the space.
