The main objective was to optimize storage and function. We chose a 18" wide dishwasher to save on space, added blind corner units with pull out trays, and built in a table accessible behind a drawer front. JBL Photography

After living in my motorhome for 2 years as a widowed guy I met a wonderful woman and asked her to Marry me. I was in the process of building a new shop in the middle of a small apple orchard to house my Motorhome (and myself), When I asked my honey to Marry me she asked where should we live...…..I said I would get back to her and some time later, this is how my shop morphed into a Shouse! The kitchen was completely gutted and reorganized. The wall between the dining room and kitchen was removed, and the eat in kitchen was transformed into a keeping room .

Fusion Linear handleless kitchen by Saffron Interiors. Base units - Shaker smooth painted in Farrow & Ball 'Stiffkey Blue' and contrasting units in Halifax Oak Synchronised Melamine. Worktop is 30mm Opal Carrara quartz with the small custom table topped with 50mm pp edged laminate in Chalk Ceramic.

Yes, you read the title right. Small updates DO make a BIG difference. Whether it’s updating a color, finish, or even the smallest: changing out the hardware, these minor updates together can all make a big difference in the space. For our Flashback Friday Feature, we have a perfect example of how you can make some small updates to revamp the entire space! The best of all, we replaced the door and drawer fronts, and added a small cabinet (removing the soffit, making the cabinets go to the ceiling) making this space seem like it’s been outfitted with a brand new kitchen! If you ask us, that’s a great way of value engineering and getting the best value out of your dollars! To learn more about this project, continue reading below! Cabinets As mentioned above, we removed the existing cabinet door and drawer fronts and replaced them with a more updated shaker style door/drawer fronts supplied by Woodmont. We removed the soffits and added an extra cabinet on the cooktop wall, taking the cabinets to the ceiling. This small update provides additional storage, and gives the space a new look! Countertops Bye-bye laminate, and hello quartz! As our clients were starting to notice the wear-and-tear of their original laminate tops, they knew they wanted something durable and that could last. Well, what better to install than quartz? Providing our clients with something that’s not only easy to maintain, but also modern was exactly what they wanted in their updated kitchen! Backsplash The original backsplash was a plain white 4×4″ tile and left much to be desired. Having lived with this backsplash for years, our clients wanted something more exciting and eye-catching. I can safely say that this small update delivered! We installed an eye-popping glass tile in blues, browns, and whites from Hirsch Glass tile in the Gemstone Collection. Hardware You’d think hardware doesn’t make a huge difference in a space, but it does! It adds not only the feel of good quality but also adds some character to the space. Here we have installed Amerock Blackrock knobs and pulls in Satin Nickel. Other Fixtures To top off the functionality and usability of the space, we installed a new sink and faucet. The sink and faucet is something used every day, so having something of great quality is much appreciated especially when so frequently used. From Kohler, we have an under-mount castiron sink in Palermo Blue. From Blanco, we have a single-hole, and pull-out spray faucet. Flooring Last but not least, we installed cork flooring. The cork provides and soft and cushiony feel and is great on your feet!

This 1960s split-level home desperately needed a change - not bigger space, just better. We removed the walls between the kitchen, living, and dining rooms to create a large open concept space that still allows a clear definition of space, while offering sight lines between spaces and functions. Homeowners preferred an open U-shape kitchen rather than an island to keep kids out of the cooking area during meal-prep, while offering easy access to the refrigerator and pantry. Green glass tile, granite countertops, shaker cabinets, and rustic reclaimed wood accents highlight the unique character of the home and family. The mix of farmhouse, contemporary and industrial styles make this house their ideal home. Outside, new lap siding with white trim, and an accent of shake shingles under the gable. Remodel of an early 1960’s Santa Monica, California kitchen was designed to capture a timeless, yet functional space. The first thing to tackle was the spatial relationships to make the kitchen more functional for this small family. The existing refrigerator was moved to the adjacent wall and surrounded by the utility closet and pantry, creating a built-in look. This allowed us to build one long countertop and create a “furniture hutch” look on one wall. The base cabinet houses the trash/recycle bin on the left and the litter box is concealed in the right end cabinet. Choosing a free standing range and a microwave that is built-in, in an upper cabinet, created more countertop space on the cooking wall. The sink was kept on the diagonal in the corner so that the shelf behind it can be used to display art pieces. The Saarinen marble table is the centerpiece for an area that is wrapped with a medium turquoise painted bead board wainscot. New molded wood chairs complete the look. The serene colors of white, light turquoise and dark brown are timeless, while the stainless appliances, hardware and pendant light fixture add some sparkle. The white cabinets are warmed by the rich chocolate tone of the large porcelain tile floor. The sleek countertops are a toast-colored Caesarstone, selected for durability and ease of use. Glass subway tiles keep the backsplash subtle and contribute to the kitchen’s warm, casual feel.

Do you have the blues? Well this kitchen design certainly does! Incorporated in the design is the Schuler cherry cabinetry, with door style Sugar Creek, has been paired with Sensa’s Blue Pearl granite. To fully capture the “blue theme”, we added Elida’s Skylight Glass Subway tile throughout the walls and Elida’s Skylight Glass Hexagon Mosaic, where the range hood and stove is located. All appliances in the kitchen are Samsung’s in color Black Stainless Steel. The cabinetry pulls are color Black Bronze provided from Schuler. All in all, the client is not in the blues when it comes to their newly remodeled

This eclectic style kitchen, blends the old with the new beautifully. The cherry island, seating area, and base cabinets offset the cream colored upper cabinetry. The upper glass cabinets provide additional light and space for displaying favorite pieces. The tile backsplash was done in a soft green hue.

A custom copper hood with a stainless band helps tie in the stainless stove and sink, while the added copper band on the sink mimics the hood design. JBL Photography
