Embracing the challenge of grounding this open, light-filled space, our Boulder studio focused on comfort, ease, and high design. The built-in lounge is flanked by storage cabinets for puzzles and games for this client who loves having people over. The high-back Living Divani sofa is paired with U-Turn Benson chairs and a "Rabari" rug from Nanimarquina for casual gatherings. The throw pillows are a perfect mix of Norwegian tapestry fabric and contemporary patterns. In the child's bedroom, we added an organically shaped Vitra Living Tower, which also provides a cozy reading niche. Bold Marimekko fabric colorfully complements more traditional detailing and creates a contrast between old and new. We loved collaborating with our client on an eclectic bedroom, where everything is collected and combined in a way that allows distinctive pieces to work together. A custom walnut bed supports the owner's tatami mattress. Vintage rugs ground the space and pair well with a vintage Scandinavian chair and dresser. Combining unexpected objects is one of our favorite ways to add liveliness and personality to a space. In the little guest bedroom, our client (a creative and passionate collector) was the inspiration behind an energetic and eclectic mix. Similarly, turning one of our client's favorite old sweaters into pillow covers and popping a Native American rug on the wall helped pull the space together. Slightly eclectic and invitingly cozy, the twin guestroom beckons for settling in to read, nap or daydream. CURE Senior Designer, Cori Dyer's personal home. Takes you through a home tour of her exquisitely designed spaces. Recently Renovated Kitchen, here is what Cori has to say about that process...Initially, I had to have the "upgrade" of thermafoil cabinets, but that was 25 years ago...it was time to bring my trendy kitchen space up to my current design standards! Ann Sachs.... Kelly Wearstler tile were the inspiration for the entire space. Eliminating walls between cabinetry, appliances, and a desk no longer necessary, were just the beginning. Adding a warm morel wood tone to these new cabinets and integrating a wine/coffee station were just some of the updates. I decided to keep the "White Kitchen" on the north side and add the same warm wood tone to the hood. A fresh version of the traditional farmhouse sink, Grohe faucet and Rio Blanc Quartzite were all part of the design. To keep the space open I added floating shelves both on the north side of the white kitchen and again above the wine refrigerator. A great spot in incorporate my love of artwork and travel! Before purchasing their early 20th-century Prairie-style home, perfect in so many ways for their growing family, the parents asked LiLu whether its imperfections could be remedied. Specifically, they were sad to leave a kid-focused happy home full of color, pattern, texture, and durability thanks to LiLu. Could the new house, with lots of woodwork, be made brighter and lighter? Of course. In the living areas, LiLu selected a high-gloss turquoise paint that reflects light for selected cabinets and the fireplace surround; the color complements original handmade blue-green tile in the home. Graphic floral and abstract prints, and furnishings and accessories in lively shades of pink, were layered throughout to create a bright, playful aesthetic. Elsewhere, staircase spindles were painted turquoise to bring out their arts-and-craft design and heighten the abstract wallpaper and striped runner. Wallpaper featuring 60s-era superheroes, metallic butterflies, cartoon bears, and flamingos enliven other rooms of the house. In the kitchen, an orange island adds zest to cream-colored cabinets and brick backsplash. The family’s new home is now their happy home. ------ Project designed by Minneapolis interior design studio LiLu Interiors. The dining room isn't just a place to eat. The velvet upholstered chair with side table and individual reading light is the perfect corner to tuck oneself away. Come winter the wood burner is the perfect excuse to linger even longer. The lamps on the sideboard soften the look with their scrolls and curves. The stunning Arctic Pear chandelier from Ochre is a real centre piece. Easy to dim, the light throws warmth to every corner of the room.
