ダイニング

This project combines high end earthy elements with elegant, modern furnishings. We wanted to re invent the beach house concept and create an home which is not your typical coastal retreat. By combining stronger colors and textures, we gave the spaces a bolder and more permanent feel. Yet, as you travel through each room, you can't help but feel invited and at home.

The design has created a high-quality extension to their home that is sleek, spacious, flexible, and light. The clean lines of the extension respect the existing house and it sits comfortably within its surroundings. They now have an open plan space that unites their friends and family, whilst seamlessly connecting their home with the garden. They couldn’t be happier.

The dining room was formerly the living room. The window on the back wall was moved closer to the corner to provide an expanse for furniture. To improve flow on the first floor, part of the wall was removed near the powder room.. The opening to the right of the fireplace leads to the garage and back door to the deck. Located in the center the dining room can be closed of by multiple sets of doors. Light hardwood floors and white walls throughout the main level of this home unify the spaces and make them feel more exapnsive.

This was a whole house major remodel to open up the foyer, dining, kitchen, and living room areas to accept a new curved staircase, custom built-in bookcases, and two sided view-thru fireplace in this shot. Most notably, the custom glass mosaic fireplace was designed and inspired by LAX int'l arrival terminal tiled mosaic terminal walls designed by artist Charles D. Kratka in the late 50's for the 1961 installation.
