Designed for a large extension that also houses the communal dining and relaxing areas of the house, this white kitchen was made to reflect the open plan nature of this family living space and use of natural light. Within the open plan design, height is used at both the breakfast bar and opposite behind the induction hob to provide a definition of where the kitchen sits, as distinct from, but linked to the dining area, home office and snug areas of this large space.

Every renovation has a story, and this one turned out to be a bit of a fairy tale. From toad to prince, this small award winning NYC kitchen is now a livable, usable dream kitchen. Full of fun design dilemmas, the biggest was how to transform this into an eat in kitchen while keeping lots of prep and cabinet space? The all custom banquette was the key. Hidden behind one of the benches is a heating and cooling unit. The bench comes easily apart for maintenance with the turn of four screws. Custom Eat-in Kitchen Banquette in Award Winning NYC Kitchen Renovation by Paula McDonald Design Build Full of design dilemmas, concealing a combined heating and cooling unit behind the banquette was key to making the owner's dream of an eat in kitchen a reality. Making the heating/cooling unit completely accessible for servicing was just one of the solutions we came up with. The custom banquette features removable cushions, back and bench giving access to the unit under the window. Like legos, the banquette comes apart completely and easily- with only 4 screws! The cabinet next to the stove was stepped back to allow access to the banquette. The design was driven by the need for both comfort and access. And while it is practical from the angles down the to fabric, it is also a truly handsome solution to a potentially challenging design problem. When this family of 7 bought their home, they came to us and said "We want a purple kitchen!". Naturally we jumped at the opportunity to create something outside of the box. With 5 young children, functionality and storage was imperative. We designed the kitchen to accommodate our client's lifestyle and busy household. It houses, 3 floor to ceiling storage compartments, each with its own individual function. First, the "Chef's Pantry", complete with top to bottom pullouts. Secondly, the "Breakfast Pantry", that houses everyday appliances, dinner ware, breakfast cereals and spreads. Finally, the once closet, converted 'Walk In Pantry". The oak frame around the range was specifically designed to allow for quick & easy access to everyday cooking essentials, and serve as a focal point in the space. Additional accessories included in the design were a double garbage pull out bin, retractable shelf for smaller, yet heavy appliances, Tupperware organizer, 2 spice pulls, and 2 Le Mans corner organizers. We opted for bespoke cabinetry, with an HDF painted & and oak construction, paired with purple and champagne bronze accents to tie it all together. Overall, this once dull and poorly organized kitchen is now the embodiment of bright, bold and beautiful, offering this colorful family comfort and convenience as they live life as an expression of their values.

Full kitchen remodel - we removed the old cabinets, countertops, and drop down soffits. We installed new Bridgewood Cabinets with Granite countertops, Tile backsplash, and New Lighting. The cabinets are a Shaker Style, done in a Maple wood and Finished in a Pecan stain. Some of the cabinet highlights include, rollout trays, trash can pullout, leaded glass inserts, and decorative moldings across the backside of the bar. We finished things off with a Peacock Green granite, stone and glass mixed backsplash tile, and new pendant lights.
