Kowalske Kitchen & Bath was the remodeling contractor for this beautiful Waukesha first floor remodel. The homeowners recently purchased the home and wanted to immediately update the space. The old kitchen was outdated and closed off from the great room. The goal was to design an open-concept space for hosting family and friends. LAYOUT The first step was to remove the awkward dining room walls. This made the room feel large and open. We tucked the refrigerator into a wall of cabinets so it didn’t impose. Seating at the island and peninsula makes the kitchen very versatile. DESIGN We created an elegant entertaining space to take advantage of the lake view. The Waukesha homeowners wanted a contemporary design with neutral colors and finishes. They chose soft gray lower cabinets and white upper cabinets. We added texture with wood accents and a herringbone marble backsplash tile. The desk area features a walnut butcher block countertop. We also used walnut for the open shelving, detail on the hood and the legs on the island. CUSTOM CABINETRY Frameless custom cabinets maximize storage in this Waukesha kitchen. The upper cabinets have hidden light rail molding. Angled plug molding eliminates outlets on the backsplash. Drawers in the lower cabinets allow for excellent storage. The cooktop has a functioning top drawer with a hidden apron to hide the guts of the cooktop. The clients also asked for a home office desk area and pantry cabinet.

This family home in a Denver neighborhood started out as a dark, ranch home from the 1950’s. We changed the roof line, added windows, large doors, walnut beams, a built-in garden nook, a custom kitchen and a new entrance (among other things). The home didn’t grow dramatically square footage-wise. It grew in ways that really count: Light, air, connection to the outside and a connection to family living. When my clients purchased this charming 1940's home in the Seattle neighborhood of Wedgwood, they were amazed by how intact the original kitchen was. It was like a perfect time capsule. The color palette was avocado green and buttercream yellow. The highlights were an original retro built-in banquette and vintage oven! The challenge we faced (besides the awesome but dated finishes) was the closed floor plan typical in this era of homes and the lack of storage. So, we opened the kitchen to the adjacent dining and living room, bringing it up to speed with modern-day living. In opening it up, we also walled off a doorway that went from the kitchen to the hallway, but it was completely unnecessary and allowed us to gain an entire wall of cabinets that didn't exist previously. For the finishes, we kept it classic with mostly gray and white but brought in a little flare and interest with the herringbone backsplash and brushed brass finishes because who doesn't love a little gold? Also, we added color with the finishing details like the rug and countertop decor because those things are a great way to add interest and warmth to a space and can be easily changed when it's time for a fresh new look. --- Project designed by interior design studio Kimberlee Marie Interiors. To create a strong focal point for the room, the fireplace was designed with a new steel facade and treated with a product that will allow it to acquire a warm patina with age.

To bring this family’s vision to life, we designed and built an L-shaped kitchen (to replace the U-shaped kitchen) and added a large, functional center island with seating. New custom walnut, painted cabinetry and commercial grade appliances were incorporated into the design to give this contemporary kitchen remodel the desired look. The wood flooring throughout the new space, together with an updated fireplace, were installed to tie the two rooms together visually. To create a strong focal point for the room, the fireplace was designed with a new steel facade and treated with a product that will allow it to acquire a warm patina with age.

Kitchen remodel completed In Chandler, AZ! Our clients were inspired by the Beautiful AZ Desert for their new space! We started by removing all of the cabinets, linoleum and carpet flooring, lowering the island peninsula to one level, and removing the lighting including the fluorescent lights above the kitchen. Putting it back together, we added six Can lights, pendants and a new chandelier for a bright open space. White shaker cabinetry was installed and topped with a beautiful Grigio Nube Quartz. The backsplash gives a pop of color with the Mariners Cove glass mosaic tile. Finally, we completed the space with the BEAUTIFUL 8x32 Sav Wood Tortora porcelain wood look tile throughout the kitchen and living area.
