This part curved, part straight central island took its shape from functional need - straight alongside the back wall, and curved where it creates a conversational circle. The mid century adage "form follows function" is still a great piece of advice. I took it a step further and created the same outline for the soffit, and for some adjacent steps. And rather than being a dry old idea, functional forms can also be beautiful and dramatic!

Keeping all interior furnishing at a low profile so that your eye stays focused on the crystal blue Pacific. Adding natural furs and playful colors to the homes neutral palate kept the space warm and cozy. Plants and trees helped complete the space and allowed “life” to flow inside and out. For the exterior furnishings we chose natural teak and neutral colors, but added pops of orange to contrast against the bright blue skyline. This open floor plan kitchen, living room, dining room, and staircase. Owner wanted a transitional flare with mid century, industrial, contemporary, modern, and masculinity. Artichoke undertook a series of bespoke pieces for the owner of this London town house, including this sleek contemporary bespoke kitchen. The exterior surfaces of the furniture were made from oak; the grain was raked out to create a highly tactile surface. The island exterior was hand-polished lacquer. The worktop stone was made up of bevelled sections so that when assembled it took on the appearance of a much larger piece of stone. Primary materials: Hand-raked American oak, pigmented lacquer, Everest stone.

Black kitchen with Oak timber and marble benchtops. Double wine fridge for entertaining. Double height void over dining allows an abundance of natural light deep into the house.

This modern European Kitchen Design utilizes a compact Space with a maximum of practicality. The clean and minimalist off-white Fronts create straight guide lines, while the functional Housing in grain Matched Stone Ash hides away the Refrigerator and Pantry Cabinet. A Bar to the living Room leaves Room to entertain Guests and be functional as the perfect Coffee Bar of the inviting open House Layout.

But nothing, and I mean nothing, about its design was a reflection of the personal taste or personalities of the owners – until now.
