This residence is located in Nashville, Tennessee on a previously developed inner city property. The goal of our clients was to create a traditionally styled home that incorporated as many “Passive” Sustainable Ideas as possible to minimize energy and water use. Additionally, Indoor Air Quality was maximized by using no/low VOC materials and exceptional air conditioning/heating systems and filtration. The design also incorporates an “Active” Solar Panel PV System that generates 4.2 Kilowatts of electricity. This office was created for the Designer Showhouse, and our vision was to represent female empowerment. We wanted the office to reflect the life of a vibrant and empowered woman. Someone that’s busy, on the go, well-traveled, and full of energy. The space also reflected other aspects of this woman’s role as the head of a family and the rock that provides calm, peace, and comfort to everyone around her. We showcased these qualities with decor like the built-in library – busy, chaotic yet organized; the tone and color of the wallpaper; and the furniture we chose. The bench by the window is part of our SORELLA Furniture line, which is also the result of female leadership and empowerment. When our clients approached us about this project, they had a large vacant lot and a set of architectural plans in hand, and they needed our help to envision the interior of their dream home. As a busy family with young kids, they relied on KMI to help identify a design style that suited both of them and served their family's needs and lifestyle. One of the biggest challenges of the project was finding ways to blend their varying aesthetic desires, striking just the right balance between bright and cheery and rustic and moody. We also helped develop the exterior color scheme and material selections to ensure the interior and exterior of the home were cohesive and spoke to each other. With this project being a new build, there was not a square inch of the interior that KMI didn't touch. In our material selections throughout the home, we sought to draw on the surrounding nature as an inspiration. The home is situated on a large lot with many large pine trees towering above. The goal was to bring some natural elements inside and make the house feel like it fits in its rustic setting. It was also a goal to create a home that felt inviting, warm, and durable enough to withstand all the life a busy family would throw at it. Slate tile floors, quartz countertops made to look like cement, rustic wood accent walls, and ceramic tiles in earthy tones are a few of the ways this was achieved. There are so many things to love about this home, but we're especially proud of the way it all came together. The mix of materials, like iron, stone, and wood, helps give the home character and depth and adds warmth to some high-contrast black and white designs throughout the home. Anytime we do something truly unique and custom for a client, we also get a bit giddy, and the light fixture above the dining room table is a perfect example of that. A labor of love and the collaboration of design ideas between our client and us produced the one-of-a-kind fixture that perfectly fits this home. Though lovely, this new build was lacking personality. This work from home family needed a vision to transform their priority spaces into something that felt unique and deeply personal. Having relocated from California, they sought a home that truly represented their family's identity and catered to their lifestyle. With a blank canvas to work with, the design team had the freedom to create a space that combined interest, beauty, and high functionality. A home that truly represented who they are.

For this high-rise home, our Tampa studio went with a light, bright, casual ambience created by cozy and comfortable furnishings, attractive lighting, and beautiful decor. We decorated each space with unique features that still blend well with the overall vibe of the house. Our St. Pete studio designed this stunning home with an elegant and classic black and white theme, creating a sophisticated and welcoming ambience. The fireplace wall in the living room was painted black, which complements the beautiful coffee table, lighting, and curtains. The dining room got a beautiful wallpaper highlight making the space look elegant. The home office is designed to be a space for productivity with a soothing neutral palette and black and white decorative accents. The living room looks classy and stylish with beautiful furniture and striking artwork. The client's love for black accents continues into the bedrooms too. The daughter's bedroom walls were painted a shade of deep black with stylish furniture to complement the look. Our Scottsdale interior design studio created this luxurious Santa Fe new build for a retired couple with sophisticated tastes. We centered the furnishings and fabrics around their contemporary Southwestern art collection, choosing complementary colors. The house includes a large patio with a fireplace, a beautiful great room with a home bar, a lively family room, and a bright home office with plenty of cabinets.
