VPC’s featured Custom Home Project of the Month for March is the spectacular Mountain Modern Lodge. With six bedrooms, six full baths, and two half baths, this custom built 11,200 square foot timber frame residence exemplifies breathtaking mountain luxury. The home borrows inspiration from its surroundings with smooth, thoughtful exteriors that harmonize with nature and create the ultimate getaway. A deck constructed with Brazilian hardwood runs the entire length of the house. Other exterior design elements include both copper and Douglas Fir beams, stone, standing seam metal roofing, and custom wire hand railing. Upon entry, visitors are introduced to an impressively sized great room ornamented with tall, shiplap ceilings and a patina copper cantilever fireplace. The open floor plan includes Kolbe windows that welcome the sweeping vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The great room also includes access to the vast kitchen and dining area that features cabinets adorned with valances as well as double-swinging pantry doors. The kitchen countertops exhibit beautifully crafted granite with double waterfall edges and continuous grains. VPC’s Modern Mountain Lodge is the very essence of sophistication and relaxation. Each step of this contemporary design was created in collaboration with the homeowners. VPC Builders could not be more pleased with the results of this custom-built residence.

The trim paneling continues on to the ceiling elongating the high ceilings in the space. The bed really pops off the white walls in all the right ways. The decorative chandelier gives us the pop of sophistication.

A bedroom for a teenage boy is complete with a custom designed integrated bed with storage and nightstands that have hidden outlets in the top to charge all his devices. The walls are covered in a textured blue wallpaper. The cedar ceiling warms the cool colored space and brings int eh natural elements of the mountain landscape that surrounds this modern mountain home. All of the windows have concealed Lutron shades that can be controlled by a button on the wall panel, by phone, or tablet. The bedding and decorative pillows are all custom and made locally.

Neat and bright white and dark blue custom cabinetry hides a secret in this home office that doubles as a guest bedroom - a convertible bed with built-in lighting!

Louisa, San Clemente Coastal Modern Architecture The brief for this modern coastal home was to create a place where the clients and their children and their families could gather to enjoy all the beauty of living in Southern California. Maximizing the lot was key to unlocking the potential of this property so the decision was made to excavate the entire property to allow natural light and ventilation to circulate through the lower level of the home. A courtyard with a green wall and olive tree act as the lung for the building as the coastal breeze brings fresh air in and circulates out the old through the courtyard. The concept for the home was to be living on a deck, so the large expanse of glass doors fold away to allow a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoors and feeling of being out on the deck is felt on the interior. A huge cantilevered beam in the roof allows for corner to completely disappear as the home looks to a beautiful ocean view and Dana Point harbor in the distance. All of the spaces throughout the home have a connection to the outdoors and this creates a light, bright and healthy environment. Passive design principles were employed to ensure the building is as energy efficient as possible. Solar panels keep the building off the grid and and deep overhangs help in reducing the solar heat gains of the building. We designed this room for a girl's room. Client wanted a feminine room but one she can grow with. We choose a gender neutral color yet kept a feminine style.

In this sophisticated yet tranquil bedroom, the walls adorned with a black matte finish create an elegant backdrop. The carefully chosen paintings, thoughtfully placed throughout the space, add a cozy and eye-catching element. The combination of the dark, muted tones with the artistic flair of the paintings creates a harmonious ambiance, making it a truly inviting and aesthetically pleasing retreat.

The gorgeous home on Mist Flower Lane in Watercolor was purchased furnished by a custom builder but, as is the case with a lot of homes here, did not have window treatments. With over 70 windows (the client ultimately decided to cover 48 windows initially), we got right to work!

This 10,000 + sq ft timber frame home is stunningly located on the shore of Lake Memphremagog, QC. The kitchen and family room set the scene for the space and draw guests into the dining area. The right wing of the house boasts a 32 ft x 43 ft great room with vaulted ceiling and built in bar. The main floor also has access to the four car garage, along with a bathroom, mudroom and large pantry off the kitchen. On the the second level, the 18 ft x 22 ft master bedroom is the center piece. This floor also houses two more bedrooms, a laundry area and a bathroom. Across the walkway above the garage is a gym and three ensuite bedooms with one featuring its own mezzanine.
