Designed for rest and rejuvenation, the wellness room takes advantage of sweeping ocean views and ample natural lighting. Adjustable lighting with custom linen shades can easily accommodate a variety of uses and lighting needs for the space. A wooden bench made by a local artisan displays fresh flowers, favorite books, and art by Karen Sikie for a calming, nature-inspired backdrop for yoga or meditation.

On a backdrop of clean white walls and window treatments we added carefully curated design elements to create this unique home.

This beachfront infinity retreat offers unobstructed waterfront views from the living room thanks to a luxurious nano door. The wall of glass panes opens end to end to expose the glistening lake and an entrance to the porch. There, you are greeted by a stunning infinity edge pool, an outdoor kitchen, and award-winning landscaping completed by Drost Landscape. Inside, the home showcases Birchwood craftsmanship throughout. Our family of skilled carpenters built custom tongue and groove siding to adorn the walls. The one of a kind details don’t stop there. The basement displays a nine-foot fireplace designed and built specifically for the home to keep the family warm on chilly Northern Michigan evenings. This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area that connects to a screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear facing exercise has great views of the rear yard through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below. Home gym/yoga studio with indestructible materials. Leads to the ground floor outdoor living room and into separate his and hers garages. Just outside the door is the Ocean and an outdoor shower. True serenity.

The clients asked that they have one room serve primarily as an exercise room and secondarily as a guest room. That's a lot to ask of a small area! We were able to achieve it with this creative credenza which houses a queensize bed. When not in use, it takes up very little space leaving the room open for all the exercise activity.
