Birchwood Construction had the pleasure of working with Jonathan Lee Architects to revitalize this beautiful waterfront cottage. Located in the historic Belvedere Club community, the home's exterior design pays homage to its original 1800s grand Southern style. To honor the iconic look of this era, Birchwood craftsmen cut and shaped custom rafter tails and an elegant, custom-made, screen door. The home is framed by a wraparound front porch providing incomparable Lake Charlevoix views. The interior is embellished with unique flat matte-finished countertops in the kitchen. The raw look complements and contrasts with the high gloss grey tile backsplash. Custom wood paneling captures the cottage feel throughout the rest of the home. Sur l'entrée de la maison montre bien le jeu des trois matériaux choisis. Le zinc anthracite pour le volume de l'étage, l'enduit blanc pour le RDC et le bois en clair voie pour l'habillage du porche d'entrée.

BeachHaus is built on a previously developed site on Siesta Key. It sits directly on the bay but has Gulf views from the upper floor and roof deck. The client loved the old Florida cracker beach houses that are harder and harder to find these days. They loved the exposed roof joists, ship lap ceilings, light colored surfaces and inviting and durable materials. Given the risk of hurricanes, building those homes in these areas is not only disingenuous it is impossible. Instead, we focused on building the new era of beach houses; fully elevated to comfy with FEMA requirements, exposed concrete beams, long eaves to shade windows, coralina stone cladding, ship lap ceilings, and white oak and terrazzo flooring. Located on the shoreline of Chichester and Langstone Harbours, a short walk from Emsworth, this two bedroom Deckhouse is a novel yet practical design dating from the 1960's. It is part of a unique development of deckhouses that were originally built as yachtsmen's weekend and holiday houses. The deckhouses are set in a tranquil parkland setting that contains two natural ponds. The Sussex Border Path passes beside as it follows the contours of Chichester Harbour and Thorney Island. The alterations included the installation of a new kitchen; the changes are sympathetic to the property.

Beautifully milled oak weatherboards were loving laid with bevel joins to give the distinct profile of quality carpentry to the corners. The double garage was laid with wide wood boards on the diagonal to create a great rompus room in this compact 4 bedroom 2 bathroom house. We laid the boards on the diagonal to open up the narrow spaces.

L'arrière du projet met en avant le volume de l'étage créé dans la continuité de l'étage existant. L'épi de faitage a pu être conservé pour conserver le coté traditionnel de cette partie. Le volume en zinc est en retrait pour laisser la place au pignon deux pans en premier plan.
